First Conditionals Умовні речення першого типу виражають реальні ситуації у майбутньому.

First Conditionals. Examples: 1. The family will have supper as soon as the father comes home. 2. If you drink so much coffee, you will not sleep well at night .

First Conditionals. Polly (to feel) better if she (to keep) a diet. If Paul (to have) a camera, he (to take) a lot of photos. What … you (to do) if you (to have) free time tomorrow?The snow (to melt) when the sun (to shine).

First Conditionals. У головній частині на місці Future Simple можуть вживатися інші форми майбутнього часу: Future Continuous: Sarah will be waiting for us outside the cinema unless it’s raining. Future Perfect: They will have arrived by 1 pm unless their plane is late. Future Perfect Continuous: If they don’t come in the next five minutes, we will have been waiting for over an hour. Structure be going to: I am going to scream if you do that again. Present Continuous (in future meaning): I am meeting Jane after school if she doesn’t have choir practice. Present Simple (in future meaning): The plane arrives at three if it is on schedule.

First Conditionals У підрядній частині на місці Present Simple можуть вживатися інші форми теперішнього часу: Present Continuous: If you are still doing your homework, we won’t go to the cinema. Present Perfect: I’ll cook something if you haven’t eaten yet. Present Perfect Continuous: He’ll be tired when he gets home if he has been working all day.

First Conditionals Сполучник unless (якщо не) часто вживається в реченнях замість if not. У цьому випадку заперечна частка not не потрібна, бо заперечення вже міститься в unless. Але не можна вживати unless в питальних реченнях. We won’t have a break unless we finish our project. (We won’t have a break if we don’t finish our project.)
