The International Cooperation

Objectives:

• to revise previously taught vocabulary;
• to improve students’ vocabulary skills;
• to develop students’ speaking skills;
• to broaden student’s vocabulary;
• to motivate linguistic guess;
• to activate error correction work;
• to activate thinking and imagination;
• to provide a stable and welcoming atmosphere in the class;
• to develop self-esteem and mutual esteem;
• to inspire students to work in pairs.

Outcomes: by the end of the lesson students will be able:

• to use the words correctly;
• to know child’s rights;
• to know about the International Youth movement;
• to give the definitions of the words.

Procedure

1. Warm-up

Homework review.

Present the results of work.

1. What do you know about the international relations of Ukraine with other countries?

2. Have you visited any international events? Can you tell your classmates about this event?

3. Name the countries which are the best partners of Ukraine in your opinion. Give your reasons.

2. Reading and writing

Ex.5 p.139

Read the text “Cultural and Humanitarian Cooperation between the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and Ukraine”. For each of the empty spaces (1—10) choose the correct answers (A, B, C or D).

3.Vocabulary

Match the words to make expressions.

4. Writing

Make as many sentences as you can, using the table. Write them down.

5. Speaking

Ex.8 p.141

Work in pairs. Choose any sentence you have made and discuss the gist of it. Give your reasons. Present the results of your discussion to the classmates.

6. Reading and speaking

Read the text and say what international organizations Ukraine deals with and whether such cooperation is useful for our country. Give your reasons.

7. Summary

Ex.10 p.142

Play a game. Divide into two teams. In turns one team says a word related to the topic of Ukraine in the world, the other team makes a sentence using this word. Each correct sentence gets a point. The team with the most points is the winner.

Ex.11 p.142

Write an e-mail to your pen friend telling him/her about a social event you have visited.

Include the following:

• the reason for taking part in this event;
• the activities which have taken place there;
• your impressions of it.
