Procedure
Ps: Good morning! We are glad to see you, too.
T: Are you fine today?
Ps: Yes, we are.
T: Are you ready for the lesson?
Ps: Yes, we are.
T: The topic of our today’s lesson is “Leisure Time and Hobbies” (Slide 1). We’ll speak about the most popular free time activities and different hobbies. But first let’s practise our tongues. Read the poem after me. Mind your sound [ŋ] (Slide 2).
T: What do you like to do in your free time?
P: It’s winter now.
T: You are right. Do you like winter? What does it bring? (Slide 4)
(Pupils answer using the Mind-Map)
T: What do you like to do in winter? What games do you like to play? (Slide 5)
P1: I like to skate.
P2: I enjoy skiing.
P3: I’m fond of playing snowballs. Etc.
T: Look! I’ve got a picture. Can you guess what is painted in it? (Slide 6) Answer my questions.
T: What are Kate’s hobbies? (music and painting)
T: Listen to one interesting episode from Kate’s school life. It happened some years ago when she was in the primary school (Slide 7).

One day Kate’s teacher told her class to paint pictures.
“Make them interesting”, she said. “Use your imagination. I’ll leave it up to you”.
T: What could children paint in their picture?

T: Let’s have a rest. You’ll see a kids animation cartoon “Hobby Train”. Were you attentive while watching the cartoon? Look at these hobby words (Slide 10). Which of them were travelling by the Hobby Train?
T: Please, put these hobby words in the correct order (as they were mentioned in the cartoon) (Slide 11).
Key: crafting, bird watching, fishing, net surfing, photography, painting, tracking, singing, skating, cycling.
T: Do you like to travel? Do you want to travel by Hobby Train? In what carriage would you like to travel? Name your hobby, please.
T: There are different groups of hobbies. Let’s divide them into categories (Ex. 1, p. 79/WB)
T: One more interesting hobby is collecting. Look at this word square. Find words that refer to things we can collect.

Text 1. Hello, I’m Tom. I like outdoor hobbies, but I don’t like games. I’m very keen on photography and I enjoy riding a bike.

Text 4. Hi! My name is Jane. I like skiing in winter and gardening in summer. I enjoy nature.
T: What is your favourite hobby or your favourite pastime?
P1: Biking is my favourite pastime. I’m fond of riding a bike. I like to visit a lot of places in the countryside. Riding a bike is better than driving a car. You can hear birds’ songs and enjoy nature.
P2: It’s winter now. There are many things I like about winter. The most favourite of my pastimes is skiing and making a snowman. I love to sit by the fireplace and drink hot chocolate with my family. Etc.
