Theme: Animals. Body Parts .
OBJECTIVES:
to practice the structures ‘Its name is …’, ‘It has got …’
to develop Ps’ motor skills, speaking and writing skills
Equipment: songs: “Good morning”, “Head and shoulders”; pictures of animals and parts of body; monsters and texts (worksheets), sheets of paper and pencils of different colours or crayons.
Outcomes: By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to use the vocabulary on topic in oral and writing forms; make up the monster and describe it.
GREETINGS
WARM UP
(pupils ask: Is it big? Is it green? Is it a crocodile?)
It can run, but it is not a dog .( a lion)
It can swim, but it is not a fish. (a crocodile)
I am big and I am strong and my trunk is very long.( an elephant)
PRESENTATION
Vocabulary revision
Show, for example, the flashcard of a tail and ask, ‘Is it a neck?’
Encourage Ps to answer, ‘No, it isn’t. It is a tail.’
Relaxing
Let’s have a rest and sing a song with moving “Head and shoulders”
Speaking
And now let’s answer my questions using the structure: I have got…
How many hands have you got? – I have got two hands.
Reading
PRACTICE
While listening to the audio, hold up your PB and point to the text of the song according to what the speaker says.
Play MP (Unit-5-Songs_and_Chants-4).
Monster Rap
I’ve got six long fingers.
I’ve got nine short toes,
I’ve got three eyes,
I’ve got four ears
And just one green nose.
Play the audio again making pauses for Ps to repeat each phrase.
Play the audio again and get Ps to sing along.
Explain to Ps that they are going to read the ‘Monster Rap’.
Ask Ps to read the text line by line pointing to their parts of the body according to the text.
- Let’s create your monsters and describe them.
Навчальний прийом – «Біном фантазії».
Hand out sheets of paper and ask Ps to take their pencils of different colours or crayons and draw the monster the way they like.
Walk around the classroom and check whether Ps need help.
PB p.71, t.4
Tell Ps that they are going to demonstrate their monsters and tell some information about them
using the structures as in the example.
Hold up your PB and point to exercise 4. Read the example aloud pointing to it.
Then point to the picture of a blue monster in exercise 4 and describe it using the text in the example
‘This is my monster. Its name is Ron.
It has got four arms and six ears. It is very nice.’
Ask Ps to come up to the blackboard and describe their monsters in turn.
Let’s describe your monster using the text:
My monster
This is my monster.
It’s name is…
My monster has got … head and … ears.
It has got ... eyes, … nose, ... mouse and … teeth.
It has got 2 hands and 2 legs.
It is very fun.
ENDING
Let us watch a cartoon about monsters.
