Тема: What is Art? Що таке мистецтво?

Мета:

  •          Навчальна:формувати комунікативні компетентності унів в процесі опанування іноземної мови, сприяти повторенню та активізації в усному мовленні лексики з різних видів мистецтва,  активізувати та поглибити знання учнів про визначні місця мистецтва в Лондоні, вдосконалювати навички сприймання мови на слух, мовлення  та навички читання, вчити учнів взаємодіяти у парах та групах
  •          Розвивальна: збагачувати словниковий запас учнів з теми, розвивати усні комунікативні вміння, створити умови для розвитку мовної здогадки, уяви та мислення засобами мови, сприяти формуванню вміння працювати як індивідуально так і взаємодіяти в парах, групах, в командах.
  •          Виховна: виховувати зацікавленість до вивчення мови, культуру спілкування іноземною мовою, пізнавальний інтерес до світової культурної спадщини, розвивати пізнавальні здібності, розширити світогляд учнів

Teacher: What is Art? What belongs to the arts? That is what we are going to define and speak about in today’s lesson. I would like you to consider and think of the things that generally come under the heading of the arts.

T: Guys, London prides itself on its art museums and galleries which have great art collections. The most famous are the Tate Gallery and the National Gallery. What do you know about them?

The National Gallery. Almost all old masters are represented there

The Tate Gallery. It houses British painting and a modern foreigh collection

Split into two teams and read the information about those two unique places. Team A reads about the National Gallery and the other team B about the Tate Gallery. And then share the information.

The National Gallery houses one of the finest collections of masterpieces in the world. In 1824 the government bought the collection of pictures accumulated by John Angerstein. The specially-built gallery in Trafalgar Square was opened in 1838. It was visited by newly-crowned queen Victoria.The main collection of more than 2,000 paintings is arranged chronologically. Italian painting includes the works of Boticelly and Leonardo da Vinci. Canvases of the dutch and Flemish schools include the works by Rembrant, Rubens. British paintings include selection from Hogarth to Turner. Admission is free.

The Tate gallery houses the national collection of British works of the 16-20th centuries. Sir Hery Tate, a sugar magnate, offered to finance the building of a new gallery. He donated his own collection of 64 paintings. The British works begin with “The man in a black cap” by Gohn Bettes, which dates back to 1545. Hogarth, Blake, Constable, Turner are particularly well presented here. There is a collection of kinetic and optical art.
