Урок 1

Тип уроку: урок формування та розвитку мовних та мовленнєвих навичок.

Тема уроку: Food. My Breakfast.

Практична мета: ввести ЛО теми уроку та повторити ЛО даної теми , вивчені у 2-3 класах, вчити учнів запитувати та надавати інформацію з теми уроку, повторити та практикувати у вживанні злічувальних та незлічувальних іменників (countable/uncountable nouns), розвивати навички читання, усного мовлення, вчити працювати учнів у групах.

Загальноосвітня мета: розширяти загальноосвітній кругозір учнів; залучати до культури народу, мова якого вивчається.

Розвиваюча мета: розвивати пам'ять, увагу, логічне мислення, зорову пам’ять, спостережливість, удосконалювати фонетику та артикуляцію звуків, розвивати усні комунікативні уміння з опорою на наочність, вчити логічно висловлювати думку.

Виховна мета: виховувати інтерес та повагу до традицій харчування української сім’ї та британської сім’ї, зацікавленість у розширенні своїх знань, використанні навчального матеріалу у житті, виховувати культуру спілкування на уроці.

Обладнання: роздавальний матеріал: емблеми для членів груп, картки для самостійної роботи, набір малюнків або плакати чи постери із зображенням продуктів, картки-бонуси із зображенням продуктів; демонстраційний матеріал:  плакат із девізом та темою уроку, плакат із правилами роботи у групах; мультимедійні засоби для демонстрації та виконання фізкультхвилинки.

 

 

 

 

 

PROCEDURE

I.  INTRODUCTION

Greeting, organizing the class

Teacher: Good morning. I’m glad to see you. I hope you are fine. And today we shall speak about food. I invite you to the “Master Chef Show”. Now take the badges (red, yellow, blue), take your places. We shall be working in the teams by the end of our topic. You have to be attentive, disciplined, hard-working, but don’t forget about good mood and be cheerful but honest. (These rules should be written in the handouts). By the end of the topic the best team will award the title “Master Chef”. For every right answer you’ll get a bonus. Like that one. Do you like it? (Teacher can prepare small cards with pictures from the topic “Food”: for the 1^st and the 2^nd lessons you can use pictures of different food, for the 3^rd and the 4^th lessons  – printed words-actions, for the rest – pictures of cooking equipment with words. All these cards must help pupils to make their own recipes at the end of the topic).

The motto of our topic and show is “COOK WITH PLEASURE” (in the handouts).

2. MAIN PART

Introducing the topic

Ex. 1, p.52 – teacher may use the computer presentation or pictures to introduce the topic (card 1).

Vocabulary practice

Ex.2, p.53 – pupils listen, repeat the words and talk in pairs about food they like /don’t like to have for breakfast. Teacher can use the following card (card 2).

  Grammar work

Teacher: And now let’s go shopping and buy some food.  As you know all nouns divide into two groups: countable and uncountable. Countable nouns are things that you can count and they have a singular and plural form. Uncountable nouns are things that you can’t count and they have only a singular form.

There is so much food in our shop. Help me please to do shopping (card 3).

Listening and Reading

Ex.3, 4, p.53 – pupils in groups listen, read the text and give their opinions to agree or disagree with the statements after the text.

Writing

Colored Ribbon (interactive method)

Group work

Pupils in groups get colored pieces of paper to write down the examples of countable (group 1) and uncountable (group 2) nouns from the text of ex.3, p.53, ex.1, p.52 (group 3). They make a colored ribbon from the pieces of paper. If the pupils write down the examples in a right order they will have two identical chains.

 

3. Homework

For 4-6 points do this task (card 4, 5).

For 7-9 points do ex.2, p.53.

For 10-12 points do ex.7, p.54. (If some pupils wish they can draw pictures of their ideal breakfast to present them at the next lesson or send their exercises as a letter using this address: ellapeta9@gmail.com); to write the new words (p.52) into vocabularies and learn them.

Summary

Teacher: Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Do you agree with the statement? Can you skip breakfast? What do you usually have for breakfast?

Checking on homework

Teacher: We eat to live, but do not live to eat (on the blackboard or in the handouts).  Do you understand this proverb? Do you agree that food isn’t a sense of our life, but it is very important for us because people can live without food only twelve days. Tell me please, what do you usually have for your breakfast? Don’t forget about your bonus-cards!

 Pupils present their works with pictures.

Man Oh. Well, I'd like a bowl of cereal, please.

RS  OK. Anything to drink - tea, coffee?

Man Wait a moment! I want sausages and eggs, too.

RS Oh, right. Sausages and eggs. And do you want bread or toast with that?

Man Toast, please. Two slices of toast.

RS  And to drink?

Man I'd like a glass of orange juice. And a cup of hot chocolate, too.

For 4-6 points do the task from the card “Homework”.

For 7-9 points do ex.4, p.56.

For 10-12 points make and act out the dialogue from ex.5, p.56 using some / any, how much / many.

Summary

Teacher: When do we use some / any, how much / many? Let’s watch the presentation and revise the material (PPP “Some/any” or “Countable/uncountable nouns”).
