What other animals live in Africa?

Objectives:

To introduce new vocabulary
To introduce the structure “What other animals live in Africa?”, “We must be careful.”
To practise the vocabulary about animals
To develop Ps’ listening and speaking skills

Vocabulary:

coconut, careful

Structure:

What other animals live in Africa? We must be careful!

Materials:

PB, PB Audio, AB, MP, flashcards #50 - 59, flashcards of numbers 1 - 10, poster #14

Outcomes:

By the end of the lesson, Ps will be able to follow and understand the order of the story. They will also be able to retell the story.

N	ACTIVITY	TIME
1.	WARM-UP Good morning song Vocabulary game	5’
2.	PRESENTATION Take flashcards #50-59 and flashcards of numbers 1-10 and stars showing them to Ps one by one asking, e.g, “Is it eleven?” Encourage Ps to answer, “No, it isn’t. It is twelve.” Hand out the flashcard and get Ps to have small dialouges. Physical activities: dancing and listening to the song	12’
3.	PRACTICE PB p.70, t. 1, 2 Stick poster #14 to the board Point to it and remind Ps the story from the previous unit. Remind Ps that dad in this family has got a new job in Africa. Tell Ps that they are going to listen to the continuation of the story. Get Ps to listen to an audio. Play PB Audio track Unite-5-Les-8-1 and get Ps to listen While listening to the audio, point to the picture and character on the poster according to the speaker Get Ps to open PB on page 70s. Tell Ps that they are going to listen to the audio again and repeat the dialogue. Play the audio again, making pauses, and get Ps to repeat each phrase. Do it twice. Tell Ps that they are going to read the lines. Tell Ps that they are going PB p. 70, t. 3 Invite several Ps to come up to poster#14 and say dialogue in roles, pointing to each character and picture. PB p. 70, t.4 Divide your class into pairs, according to the number of characters we have in the dialogue. Tell Ps that they are going to act out the story.	18’
4.	ENDING AB p. 59, t.1 Get Ps to open their ABs on page 59. Explain to Ps that they are going to number the picture in the right order. Fold the poster and play PB Audio track Story Time . Tell Ps to think and number the pictures in the sequence of the story. Invite Ps to come up to the board and say the right order of the story. Goodbye song	4’
