Loss of biodiversity
Human activity leads to the extinction of entire species, the disappearance of their habitats (due to deforestation, drainage or flooding) and the loss of biodiversity. Excessive fishing and hunting is also a factor, although in reality about 40% of the food produced is simply thrown away.
In Ukraine, the problem of biodiversity loss is exacerbated by the war: more than 80 species of animals are on the verge of extinction and may cease to exist entirely due to Russian aggression. The occupiers have been targeting natural parks, zoos and shelters and have killed more than 10,000,000 animals during the war.
Both we and future generations need to address environmental issues right now, and it's not as if humanity is standing aside. There are already
some developments, some ways to stabilize or improve the environmental situation. Here are just a few of them:
► Environmental education
► Using scientific and technological progress to protect the environment
► Limiting the anthropogenic impact on nature, eradicating consumerism
► Increasing spending on environmental issues
► Restriction of the use of artificial polymers, in particular, plastics, plastics, synthetic materials
► Afforestation
► Creation of nature reserves and sanctuaries
There are already so many environmental initiatives and projects in the world and in Ukraine that it gives us hope for a brighter and cleaner future.
