Procedure.
Good morning everyone. Today is a nice day, so let’s have fun together .Dear students, we are going talk about something interesting. But you need to guess what
Tr: I need two students to take part in this task. Any volunteers? OK, here we are. The task is : there are small pieces of paper around the board. You need to find them and guess a secret word.
Allright, now we have the word “ Sandwich”. And tell me please, what is the topic of our lesson today?
Ss: Food
Tr: Good, but it’s not all the food in the world. It’s the food you like.
Ss: Oh, our favourite food!
Tr: Yes, you are right. At the end of our lesson we will choose the best student who becomes “Master shef”. He or she will get a title and a prize. So, let’s get started! I switch on the presentation and here’s the first task.
Riddles
Tr: You will see picture riddles. The task is to guess the name of food or a drink. But be careful to use a/an with nouns! If we can’t count it, don’t say a/an.
(Students name the words: a hot dog, a milkshake, a moon pie, French fries, KFC, gold fish, a pancake…)
Tr: Well done! Let’s move on.
Countable/uncountable nouns
Tr: So as we spoke about names of food, we must remember about two groups of nouns- countable and uncountable. I have a nice song about such food – “Do you like food?” Your task is to listen to it and write out – 1st group : only countable nouns; and 2nd group: only uncountable nouns.
Ss listen and give the answers.
KEY: 1- banana, orange, apple, mango, papaya, peach, lime, zucchini, onion, carrots, candy, cup cakes, cakes, cookies, pies, brownie;
2- peas, celery, broccoli, chicken, duck, beef, pork, fish, turkey, ice cream.
Tr: Great! We rush to the next task. You work in pairs. Each pair gets a text which is called “My favourite food”. Whose favourite food is it about?
Ss read the text for 1,5 min and give the answer.
Tr: Right. Now after the text you have questions to answer.
Tr: We’ve done a great job and now we will have more fun. You will be devided into two teams. Each team gets some cards with definitions. You read them to the other team. If they guess – you get a point.
Key: chicken, banana, honey, cake, water, milk, cherries, grapes, coffee, sugar…
Tr: Excellent! Now, look at the screen. Yesterday my son and I went shopping. Here’s our fridge. Tell me please, what is there in the fridge?
Ss: There is some chicken. There are some eggs…
Tr: Fine. Next task for you is: every student gets a card with some sentences. You need to complete them with some/any/a/an.
Plates
Tr: Good job! This time we have some handicraft. You will work in groups of three. You will get a plate with different types of food. You choose a menu for your type of meal: breakfast, lunch, dinner. Use some glue there!
Tr: Your plates look really tasty! I hope you aren’t very hungry now? Because we spoke a lot about the food today. I would like to know what is your favourite food?
(Ss answer: My favoutire food is_______ because it’s sweet/tasty…)
Tr: Finally, as I promised you, we will find out the winner! According to the table on the board we see that it’s Artem! Congratulations! Today you’re the Master shef and come and get the prize!
