Тема: Охорона навколишнього середовища

Тип уроку: Урок застосування знань, умінь і навичок

Практичні цілі: 1) Розвивати монологічне та діалогічне мовлення.

2) Навчити учнів логічно і послідовно робити повідомлення.

3) Навчити учнів висловлювати свою думку, аргументувати її, давати оцінку фактам, робити висновки.

4) Практикувати учнів в аудіюванні

Освітня мета: 1) Cистематизувати знання учнів про екологію та проблеми сучасного суспільства.

2) Розширити уявлення про ставлення людей до проблем навколишнього середовища.

3) Підвести учнів до усвідомлення необхідності охороняти і примножувати природні багатства.

Розвиваюча мета: 1) Розвивати вміння логічно та послідовно викладати свої думки.

2) Розвивати критичне мислення учнів

3) Виховувати культуру мовлення, інтерес до вивчення англійської мови

Виховна мета: Виховувати любов до природи рідного краю та дбайливе ставлення до його природних ресурсів.

 

Засоби навчання:

Обладнання: проектор,  комп’ютер, відеоролик, роздатковий матеріал, учнівські проекти

Наочність: тематичні малюнки, оформлення на дошці

Save  the Planet

The fish in the sea are dying

From the pollution we create.

We’ve got to stop polluting

Before  it’s too late.

 

Our planet is in trouble,

It gets worse every day.

We have to help our planet

In every possible way.

 

In the woods and forests

They’re cutting down the trees.

We’ve got to save the forests

Everyone agrees.

 

The hole in the ozone layer

Is getting bigger every day.

We’ve got to stop air pollution

We have to find a way.

 

Leading in: повідомлення теми уроку:  The main idea of the poem will be the topic of our lesson today. So, what is it? (The Environmental problems, Save the Earth!).

Now, when you already know the topic of our lesson, can you guess what we will talk about (the environmental problems, different kinds of pollution, recycling, the ways of reducing pollution and saving the nature).

3. Your home task was to prepare the projects on the topic and today some of you are ready with the presentations.

4. Pre-watching activity: Give the explanations to the words:

1) Do you know what the sign R3 means? (reduce – reuse – recycle)

2. Garbage (it is rubbish, waste or other things we throw away)
3. Rainforests (it is a thick forest in tropical parts of the world, like in Amazon area)
4. The Earth (it is our planet)
5. Environmental problems (problems which threaten nature, e.g. air pollution, water pollution, global warming, holes in the ozone layer)
6. Pollution (it is the process of making our environment dirty and unhealthy for leaving)
7. Renewable Energy (energy generated by natural resources which  can be used again and again) (on the board)
8. A recycling bin (a bin for separated garbage, which can be processed to be used again)
9. Solar panels (special panels which accumulates the power of sun and produce the energy)
10.                      To devastate (to destroy, to ruin) (on the board)

 

5. While-watching activity: Watch the video and pay attention to some points, such as: natural disasters, the sources of renewable energy, the problems and the solutions.

 

6. After-watching activity:

a) Discussion:

1) Which natural disasters have been mentioned? (earthquake, drought, hurricane, flood)

Can you add any? (forest fire, tornado, tsunami, avalanche)

2) What sources of renewable energy exist? (solar panels, wind turbines, underwater turbines)

3) What can be recycled or reused? (cans, bottles, paper, electrical items, food, plastic bags and containers)

4) What can we do to reduce the pollution, to save the resources? (recycle items, separate garbage, reuse the items (plastic or paper bags, jars, bottles, cans),  plant trees, switch off electricity when we are off, collect rubbish, use recycling bins, not leave  water running, use less plastic bags and containers, not use aerosols).

7. Give the reasons of the problems, the result and the ways of solution

What is happening?  What the results can be? (It leads to… It may cause…) Our mission (We should…)

1. Global warming (The average world temperatures are rising due to build-up of “greenhouse gases” in the Earth’s atmosphere. The Earth gets hotter, ice caps and glaciers melt and sea level rises. As a result, some territories may be sunk, plants and animals may disappear. We should reuse and recycle garbage, use less aerosols)
2.   Deforestation (Trees are disappearing because of forest fires, cutting down, acid rains. Forests produce oxygen we breathe, they provide home and food for plants and animals, protect soil from the wind and rain. We should protect forests, plant trees, reuse and recycle paper (by the way, our school constantly collects waste paper, on the one hand, we save trees, on the other, our school earns money for its needs)
3. Extinction of animals (People pollute and destroy the natural habitat of animals, they build cities there, cut down the forests, cultivate soil for agriculture, pollute water, air and soil. The natural balance is disturbed and it leads to the disappearing of insects and animals. Some of them become extinct. We should act before it’s too late: we should protect natural habitat and animals, create conservations)
4. Air pollution (Plants, factories, power stations, cars emit tones of smoke into the air, the smoke contains poisonous substances which are dangerous for everything on the Earth: people, plants, animals. Air pollution may cause illnesses, acid rains. We should use environmentally friendly ways of producing energy, use less cars,

 

 

8. The poem “Hug the Earth”

Walking along, feeling free,

Feeling the Earth here with me.

And I love her and she loves me,

I hug the Earth, and she hugs me.

She’s our kindest friend,

We’d like to go together forever. (Hometask: find poems about The Earth)

 

9.     We live in a magic world, which is full of wonderful things. Nature gives us life, it is our best and kindest friend. It teaches us to be kind and clever, attentive and creative, to understand the world around us. If you look green, you are probably not feeling very well. But if the Earth is green it is a healthy planet. A green planet means that the soil is good, there is plenty of water, air is clean, animals have places to live and things to eat. Look at our planet. It is sad now, but any of us can help save the Earth.
