St Valentine's Day. St. Valentine’s Day is a romantic day celebrated on the fourteenth of February. People send greeting cards called Valentines. The most common saying is “Be my Valentine”. Some people give greeting cards, flowers and chocolates. Schools decorate their classrooms with paper hearts and steamers. Who is Valentine? Why do people celebrate this day every year? Valentine was a priest in Rome at the time when Christianity was a new religion. The emperor was Claudius II. Valentine secretly married the young couples. Then he was arrested and executed.
