Teacher greets learners by saying, ‘Hello, class.’ Learners respond, ‘Hello’. Say, ‘Let’s play a game!’ • Divide the board into two halves and write food words randomly on each of them (sandwich, drink, banana, apple, biscuit, pear, grapes, cherry). • Divide the class into two teams. • Ask for one volunteer from each team. • Tell them to stand facing the class with their backs to the board. • Give each volunteer a rolled-up piece of paper. • Say: ‘When I say a word, turn around, look at the words on the board and touch the word with the roll of paper. The first one to touch the correct word with their paper roll gets a point for their team.’ • Play round one by saying one of the words. • Award one point to the winning team. • Ask for two new volunteers. • Continue the game, saying words. • Add the points and get the learners to clap the winners. |

• Talk about lunch boxes with the class. Ask Have you got a lunch box? What colour is your lunch box? • Ask children to look at the pictures and try to predict what the text is about (three children are describing what they've got in their lunch boxes). • Ask children to look at the pictures again. Point to the different types of food for children to say the words. • Point children’s attention to the new words. Read the words and explain their meaning. They are going to describe one of the lunch boxes A, B, or C. • Play the recording for children to listen and follow the text in their books. • Get several pupils to read the text one by one. • Ask simple comprehension questions, e.g. Has he got an orange? Has she got a banana? Has he got two sandwiches? • Talk about the lunch boxes with the class. Ask What is your favourite food in lunch box A/B/C? |
