Розробку уроку можна використовувати під час проведення уроку узагальнення і систематизації знань учнів з теми "Cafes and Shops" у 6 класі ( 2 год. на тиждень).На уроці активно використовуються елементи інсценізації,що допомагає активно розвивати творчі здібності учнів.

SHOPPING IS FUN

Aim: to practice active vocabulary on the topic;

         to revise vocabulary and communicative formulas to give pupils possibility to speak     

         in the situations;

         to develop communication competence;

         to develop listening skills;

         to work in groups;

         to develop the chief traits of a person character like tact, politeness, tolerance.

Equipment: the multimedia board, a notebook, additional cards for group work, audio and video recording.

                                              PROCEDURE

І. The beginning of the lesson

1. Greeting

       T: Good morning, children! Nice to see you! Today is Tuesday, the twenty-second of    

          February.  It’s winter. The weather is fine and it’s high time to start our lesson.

    2. Warm up

       T: Let’s begin our lesson with a poem. Look at the blackboard and try to restore the 

          poem. Then say what is our topic?

                           Start your jumping, running, hopping

                           It’s time to go …….

                           From now on you have to run –

                           Having shopping is such……

         T: That’ s right. Our topic is   ”Shopping is fun”

              What other poems about shopping do you remember? Read the poem and fill in 

              the necessary words.

                           Making……….  makes me good,

                           Buying things and buying………

                           Spending……… every day

                            …………… is the best you may.

 3. Aims

       T: Shopping is very important in our life. We cannot imagine our life without shops. So by the end of the lesson you should be able

  • to talk about shopping
  •  to talk with shop-assistant 
  •  to learn to behave when doing shopping
  • to understand and operate with all the lexis

IІ. Main part of the lesson

1. Revising lexis (names of packs)

         T: Do you want to do shopping?

             OK! You’ll do it if I’m sure you know the lexis and the names of the shops. So   

              let’s do some creative tasks. Look at the board. You can see some images and  

              groups of words. You should match them and make up a word combination.

                    eg. a bag of…….

2. Revising lexis (kinds of shops)

             T: You know that we can buy these products and goods in different shops. On the   

                 board you can see many pictures. What kinds of shops are there? Go to the

3. Making up sentences. Group work.

          T: Where do you buy the following things?

5. Speaking.

     Checking hometask.  Roleplaying dialogues.

              T: And now I’d like to listen to your dialogues prepared at home. Your 

                  hometask was to roleplay the dialogues using products and goods. So you are

                  welcome!

                   I’m not sure that all the shops are opened now, so we call there to find out.

 

 

 

                                         Dialogue “Telephone conversation” 

 Pupil: Hello!

Operator: Macy’s, may I help you?

Pupil: Yes, please. Are you open now? How late are you open tonight?

Operator: The shopping mall works from 8 a. m. to 10 p.m. without a break for dinner or 

                 days off.

Pupil: Thank you very much.

Operator: You are welcome.

                                         Dialogue “At the Toy Department”

A: Can I see that toy-bear, please?

B: This one?

A: No, to the left of it.

B: Here you are. It’s very nice.

A: Can you show me this rabbit and the dog, please?

B: Here you are.

A: How much are they?

B: For the bear, the rabbit, the dog that’s 30 pounds.

A: Pack them, please.

                                         Dialogue “At the Greengrocer’s”

A: Can I help you?

B: I am looking for potatoes.

A: How much would you like?

B: I want one killo, please.

A: Here you are. Do you want something else?

B:  Yes, 2 killos of carrots, please.

A: Here you are. That’s 10 pounds and 50 pence.

B: Here’ the money. Thank you.

 

                                   Dialogue “At the Grocer’s”

A: Good morning!

B: Good morning. What can I do for you?

A: I want a packet of tea and a bag of sugar, please.

B: Yes, please.

A: Oh, I want a jar of coffee, too.

B:  What coffee and how much?

A: 200 grams of Indian, please.

B: Anything else?

A: That’s all for today.

B: Here you are. That’s 40 pounds.

A: Here’s the money. Thank you. 

                                   Dialogue “At the Grocer’s”

Customer 1: Hello!

Shop-assistant: Hello!

Customer 1: I want a box of sweets and two packs of tea, please.

Shop-assistant: Yes, please. Anything else?

Customer 1: A pack of coffee, please.

Shop-assistant: Here you are.

 Customer 2: Oh, we forgot, we need some salt, please.

Shop-assistant: 2 pounds, please. Any plastic bag?

Customer 2: No, nothing else, thank you.

Customer 1: Here’s the money and thanks a lot. Good buy!

 

                                   Dialogue “At the Market”

Seller: Hat, hat, who wants to buy a hat?

Customer: Oh, hat, a nice hat, I want to put it on.

Seller: Here you are.

Customer: Does it suits me?

Seller: Yes, yes. You look so beautiful!

 Customer: I want to buy it. How much does it cost?

Seller: $ 200

Customer: What? Are you joking?

Seller: No, no, no!

Customer: Only $ 50!

Seller: But it costs $200!

Customer: Ok! I’ll go home.

Seller: No, wait - $50!

Customer: No, no, no - $15!

Seller: OK. Here you are. Go away!  

ІII. Ending

1. Summarizing.

     T: Summing up our lesson we can say that today we have done our best.

          You have learnt how to do shopping, how to behave in different situations when

          buying things. And also we’ve remembered some words from our vocabulary.

  • What activity was the most difficult to you?
