             Ігровий урок у 2-му класі по темі  

                              “Seasons and Clothes”

                                                                  Fashion is the science of appearance,
                                                                 and it inspires one with the desire to seem
                                                                  rather than to be.
                                                                                                       Henry Fielding

Objectives:  to develop and improve pupils’ skills for pronunciation, reading,

                     speaking and listening;

                     to revise pupils’ vocabulary on the topic “Seasons and Clothes”;

                     to form pupils’ writing skills;

                     to develop pupils’ imagination, memory, attention;

                     to bring up speaking culture, and the desire to study English language.

Visual Aids: a tape-recorder, a cassette, pictures, a ball, cards with tasks, slides.

                                                                                                                                                

                                        PROCEDURE

I. Preliminaries

1. Greeting and Aim.

  T: Good morning, boys and girls.

   Ps: Вітання віршем “Good morning to you!”

             Good morning to you!

             Good morning to you!

             We are in our places

             With sunshiny faces.

             Good morning to you!

             We are glad to see you!

   T: I’m glad to see you too. How are you?

   Ps: (I’m O.K. I’m well. I’m fine. I’m all right. I’m not bad. I’m so-so.)                      

   T:  It’s fine. Are you ready to work hard?

   Ps: Yes, we are.

   T: O.K. Today we’ll speak, sing, recite poems, write, read and play many   

        interesting games. Let’s start our lesson.

2. Phonetic Drill.  

   T: Let’s train our Mr. Tongue. Mr. Tongue дуже любить гратися “m”, “n”, “l”.

        А сьогодні він вирішив прибрати у своєму будинку. Він відкрив широко

        двері “e”, повиносив килимки і почав вибивати “t”, “d”, стомився і сказав

       “h”. (Вчитель показує знаки транскрипції [m], [n], [l], [t], [d], [h]).  

3. Warming up.

   T: Dear children, let’s divide into two teams. The first team is “Cherries” and the  

        captain of the team is Vicky …., the second team is “Berries” and the

        captain of the team is Nastia ….. (Команди гравців отримують

        емблеми з написами назв команд). Now, we shall start our contest with

        a ball game “Question –  answer”. Do you know what is it?

     (Вчитель показує м’яч).

   Ps: It’s a magic ball.

   T: Right you are. I’ll throw it to both teams one by one and ask questions. You

        have to catch the ball and answer the questions quickly and correctly. If one

        of the teams is wrong the second team will have a chance to answer that

        question. Is it clear? So let’s start.

          Teacher’s questions

   T: What day is it today?

   P1: It is Friday today.

   T: What day is before Friday?

   P2: Thursday.

   T: What day is after Friday?

   P3: Saturday.

   T: What day is after Saturday?

   P4: Sunday.

   T: What day is before Tuesday?

   P5: Monday.

   T: What day is after Tuesday?

   P6: Wednesday.

   T: What season is it now?

   P7: It is winter now.

   T: What month is it now?

   P8: It is February now.

   T: Who can recite me a poem about winter?

   Oranges: We can.

                 Winter, winter, winter.

                 The snow is falling.

                 The wind is blowing.

                 The ground is white.

                 All day and all night.

   T: Who can retell me a poem about winter month?

   Apples: We can.

                Autumn is over.

                December comes.

                January and February

                Are also winter months.

   T: Is it cold today?

   P: Yes, it is.

   T: What do we wear in winter?

   P: We wear caps, scarves, sweaters, jackets, pants, boots and mittens.

   T: And now my dear, listen to the fairy – tale.

   T: Listen!

      Somebody is knocking at the door.

      Three kittens and Mother Cat come into the classroom:

      Three little kittens

      Lost their mittens

      And began to cry …

     Kittens

      Oh, Mummy dear!

      Look here! Look here!

      We lost our mittens!

      Cat

      Lost your mittens?

      You are bad kittens.

      Then you will have no pie.

      Children

      Three little kittens

      Found their mittens

      And began to cry…

      Kittens

      Oh, Mummy dear!

      Look here! Look here!

      We found our mittens.

      Cat

      Found your mittens?

      You are good kittens.

      I shall give you a pie.

      But I smell a rat close by.

      Good – bye!

 

II. The Main Part of the Lesson

  1. Vocabulary Practice.

  T: Let’s continue our talk about clothes.

Task 1. Game “Am I right?”

       Now a game “Am I right?”. I’ll show you the pictures one by one and

      name them. You must be very attentive and correct my mistakes. (Вчитель

      показує картинки).

     T (показуючи на спідницю): This is a skirt.

     P: Yes, it is.

     T: (показуючи на плаття): This is a blouse.

     P: No, it isn’t. It is a dress. 

     T (показуючи на блузку): This is a scarf.

     P: No, it isn’t. It is a blouse.

     T: (показуючи на пальто): This is a coat.

     P: Yes, it is.

     T (показуючи на чоловічу сорочку): This is a shirt.

     P: Yes, it is.

     T: (показуючи на костюм): This is a dress.

     P: No, it isn’t. It is a suit.

     T (показуючи на шарф): This is a cap.

     P: No, it isn’t. It is a scarf.

     T: (показуючи на куртку): This is a jacket.

     P: Yes, it is.

     T: Nice of you. I see you know the names of clothes very well. And now we

          have one more task.

Task 2.  Find the rhyme words and read them.

              On the cards you can see four animals and four items of clothes. Your task

               is to find the rhyme words and read them.

        This card is for Cherries:

  1.     cat                                   a) blouse
  2.     kittens                             b) scarf
  3.     giraffe                             c) mittens
  4.     mouse                             d) hat

         This card is for Berries:

  1.     goose                              a) coat
  2.     rat                                    b) glove
  3.     goat                                 c) shoes
  4.     dove                                d) skirt

      T: Well done.

2. Writing.

  Task 3. Game “Jumbled letters”

             Now we’ll play a game “Jumbled letters”. On the left is the task for

             the team Cherries and on the right is for the team Berries. Go to the

             blackboard and put the letters into the correct order to make up words.

             Which team will do the task faster.

 T: You worked very good. But I have another task. It will be more difficult for

      you.

Task 4.  Find and circle.

              You have to find and circle eight items of clothes on the card. The

              task is the same for both teams.

 Task 5.  Your next task will be to describe clothes of the hero from the fairy –

               tale.

       T:  Look at this little girl. What’s her name?

       P:  Her name is Red Hat.

       T:  What is she wearing?

       P:  She is wearing a red hat, a white blouse, a blue skirt and brown shoes.        

       T: Now, open your exercise – books, write down the date. Then look at this

            picture, and write out only the true sentences from this card.

          (Pечення написані на картках).

  1.      This is Tom’s mother.
  2.      This is Red Hat.
  3.      She is wearing a red scarf.
  4.      She is wearing a red hat.
  5.      She is wearing a pink blouse.
  6.      She is wearing a white blouse.
  7.      She is wearing a blue skirt.

3. Playtime.

    T: It’s time to have a break. Stand up! Let’s sing a song with the movements. 

                                                Song “Daddy Frost”

Daddy Frost, Daddy Frost,

bite our cheeks.

We have boots

and we have coats,

nice and pretty mittens.

 

Daddy Frost, Daddy Frost,

clap our hands.

Our girls and our boys

have a lot of fun.

4. Speaking.

    Task 6. Look and say.

      T: Now, look at these pictures and tell me, please what do we wear in

           winter?

      P: We wear pants, mittens, a scarf, a sweater, a jacket, a pair of boots.

      T: What do we wear in spring and in autumn?  

      P: We wear trousers, a shirt, a coat, a suit.

      T: What do we wear in summer?

      P: We wear a dress, a skirt, a blouse, shoes, a cap, a hat.

5. Listening.

    Task 7. That’s good. And now my dear, look at these pictures and guess the

                 names of people by their clothes.

       (Учні визначають імена людей за описом одягу).

    She is wearing a blouse, a skirt and shoes. Her name is …

    He is wearing a shirt, a suit and shoes. His name is …

    He is wearing a sweater, a coat, a scarf and trousers. His name is …

    She is wearing a dress and shoes. Her name is …

     T: Very well.

 

III. The Final Part of the Lesson

      Summerizing.

    T: Our competition is over. I liked your work at the lesson and I have my small

    presents for both teams. During the lesson you spoke, read, wrote, made up

    words, sang a song, recited poems. And now let’s make up a circle and recite

    a poem “Сlothes”.

                                           Clothes

                     Boys wear shorts and trousers.

                     Girls put on skirts and blouses.

                     When it’s hot,

                     I like my sandals and shorts.

                     When it’s cold,

                     I put on my cap and coat.
