Запитання 17

Which person enjoys living in a multicultural community?

варіанти відповідей

Susan: Dublin, Ireland

I moved to the city two years ago to take up a job I had been offered, and I certainly don’t regret the decision today. Compared to where I used to live, there is so much to do and see here: live music events, art exhibitions and theatre plays. And I love how Dublin is so cosmopolitan these days. People from all over the world live here and many of them have opened restaurants where you can eat exotic food! True, it can be expensive to go out here, but the high wages I receive support my kind of lifestyle.

Rob: London, England

Living in the country’s capital city can be very challenging. There are lots of cultural attractions and live events on offer, but it’s impossible to find the time or the money to enjoy them. Plus, the heavy traffic, thick smog and loud crowded streets often make me feel like just staying at home! I suppose it’s a city that’s wonderful to visit, but not as nice to live in. Actually, if it wasn’t for the transport links here I wouldn’t be able to survive. Thankfully, it’s easy to find a bus or train and take a weekend break outside the city in a quieter calmer environment.

Harry: Orkney Islands, Scotland

I live on an island that’s just 10 km off the coast of Northern Scotland, but sometimes it feels like I’m a million km from civilisation! There’s very little live entertainment here, so it’s difficult to have an active social life. And since the ferry to the mainland runs so rarely, I don’t really have the option to socialise there. As a holiday destination, though, I’d definitely recommend the Orkney Islands. People with busy lifestyle will love the slow pace of life here, and the locals are very friendly to visitors. On the other hand, these same people can be very nosy to those who actually live on the islands!

Jade: Brecon, Wales

If you ask me, you can’t beat the quality of life that the countryside offers. The air is clean, the food is fresh and daily life is far less stressful. Some people might complain about the lack of local entertainment, but I think there are plenty of fun things to do here. Around the town, you can hike in the mountains, kayak in the rivers or go on horse rides through the valleys. And in the town itself, we have regular crafts fairs and even host an annual jazz festival! Also, people are very friendly here. I know all my neighbours and enjoy being part of a small community.
