TOPIC: The advantages or disadvantages of using computers.

Objectives:

to widen students' knowledge of the topic;

to develop communicative approach in speaking;

to encourage students' creative skills;

to practice skills to work in group;

to practice reading and writing.

Time: 45 minutes.

Materials: a computer, cards, magic box, students book.

I. Introduction. Greeting

Hello, students. Happy to see you! How are you? I hope you are all right and ready for our discussion. Today we are going to discuss a very important topic.

 The topic of discussion today is “The advantages or disadvantages of using computers". By the end of the lesson you should be able:

1. To understand and use the lexical material of the topic.
2. To identify main ideas and details from the text for reading.
3. To talk about the advantages and disadvantages of using computers.

Warm up: Put the words in the following phrases in the correct order.

1.He/crazy/playing/games/is/about.

2.Can/destroy/viruses/the/programs/all.

3. Using/has/a/many/advantages/computer/got.

4. She/download/can/useful/and/information/keep in touch/friends/with.

Main part:

1.  Speaking

“Magic box”

The students opens the box, take a paper, read questions and give answers.

What can you do with the internet?

How often do you read e-books?

Who is the best computer player in your class?

What is your attitude to the net?

3. Writing

Make up and write down the sentences about the advantages and disadvantages of using computer.

Advantages: are able to walk faster, store songs, become computer literate, access to information, keep in touch with friends or relatives.

Disadvantages: become addicted, damage your eyes, give back problems, viruses can destroy all the programs or delete information.
