1. Привітання та повідомлення теми вікторини

T: Good afternoon, dear friends! I’m very glad to see you today at our competition. Watch the video and guess the city.

(На екрані відео. Учні дивляться його та відгадують місто.)

T: As you might guess, today we have a quiz “What do you know about the United Kingdom?”. I'm sure you know a lot of information about this wonderful country. And now you have a good opportunity to show your knowledge by taking part in our competition. Today we are going to speak about the United Kingdom, its parts, people and cities and have fun. We will also test your knowledge of the English language.

2. Поділ на команди

T: But first of all let’s divide you into two teams. I have a box of cards with team names on them. Everyone must pick a card. Whichever team name you choose, that’s the team you get into.

(Діти вибирають випадкову картку із назвою команди із коробки. Яка назва їм попадається, у таку команду вони потрапляють.)

T: Now you have to choose the leader of your team.

(Учні вибирають лідера команди.)

T: Let me introduce our participants. The first team is called “Smart Cookies” and the second – “Bright Sparks”.

3. Повідомлення правил вікторини

T: Now let’s discuss the rules of the quiz.

1.     The game is divided into 4 rounds. There are 3 questions in each round for each team.
2.     Each correct answer is worth 1 point. Each wrong answer will be scored 0 points
3.     One team can earn a maximum of 12 points.

T: Here you can see a list of rounds. They are: True or False, Multiple Choice, Word games and Riddles. Let our competition begin. Good luck!

1. Перший раунд

T: The first round  is “True or False”. I will read a statement and you have to guess whether it is true or false. If you are right, you will get a point. If you are wrong, you won’t get any points. Each team has to answer 3 times.

3. There are 26 letters in the English alphabet. (true)
4. Tea is the most famous drink in the UK. (true)

(Ведуча по черзі питає команди. Якщо команда дає правильну відповідь, вона переходить до питання для другої команди. Якщо ж команда помиляється, ведуча озвучує правильну відповідь.)

2. Другий раунд

T: Are you ready to continue? Let’s start the second round. It’s called “Multiple Choice”. You will see a question and answer options on the screen. You must choose one correct answer. If your answer is correct, you will get a point. As it was earlier, each team has to answer 3 questions.

(Ведуча по черзі питає команди. Якщо команда дає правильну відповідь, вона переходить до питання для другої команди. Якщо ж команда помиляється, ведуча озвучує правильну відповідь.)

3. Третій раунд

T: Let’s begin the next round, “Word Games”. You have to show your knowledge of the language. You need a sheet of paper and a pen for this task. One person from each team has to write answers on a sheet of paper. Each team will be given 3 tasks. If your answer is correct, you will get a point.

5.      Unscramble the letters to find the words.

(Учасники відгадують слова.)

(Команди отримують по 3 завдання. Якщо команда дає правильну відповідь, ведуча переходить до питання для другої команди. Якщо ж команда помиляється, ведуча озвучує правильну відповідь.)

4. Четвертий раунд

T: Let’s start the last round of our competition, “Riddles”. Each team will have to solve 3 riddles. If your answer is correct, you will get a point.

3. What has legs, but doesn’t walk? (A chair / table)

(Команди мають відгадати по 3 загадки. Якщо команда дає правильну відповідь, ведуча переходить до питання для другої команди. Якщо ж команда помиляється, ведуча озвучує правильну відповідь.)

3. Заключна частина вікторини

1. Визначення переможців

(Ведуча оголошує кількість балів, що набрала кожна команда, та визначає переможця).

2. Підсумки виховного заходу
