Topic: “After-school Clubs. Ukrainian Club.”
Aim: The students learn about after-school clubs, improve listening comprehension and learn about Ukrainian symbols.
Learning objectives:
By the end of the lesson students will be able to:
Materials: Prepare 5 (Work Book), pictures of after-school clubs from Google; Wordwall, cards with tasks, personal self-assessment cards, the poem of V. Sosiura «Любіть Україну» and its translation into English by the Embassy of Ukraine to the UK (Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UChsidaLEZc ), physical activity (a video from YouTube), the presentation
Procedure
1.Greeting. Topic. Learning objectives.
T: Good afternoon, dear students. Today we’re going to talk about after-school clubs and learn about Ukrainian symbols. By the end of the lesson you’ll be able to review the names of after-school clubs; use the information from the conversation for doing tasks; identify Ukrainian symbols.
2. Warming up.
T: How are you today? Take your personal self-assessment card, write your name and show your mood. Draw a happy or a sad face.
3. Listening.

5. Discussion.
T: In our school on Tuesday we’ve got a Ukrainian club. I invite you to join it. Answer my questions: Where are you from? What nationality are you?
T: Yes. We’re Ukrainians. Ukraine is our Motherland. Our country has some national and traditional symbols. Which of them do you know?
T: Look at the screen and say the names of some Ukrainian symbols after me: a Ukrainian flag, a Ukrainian Trident, bread (korovai), a pysanka (a coloured egg).
6. Group work.
T: Let’s work in four groups. Complete the sentences to make the text about one of the symbols. Use the words from the box.
