Підсумковий урок з англійської мови у 2 класі за Модулем 6 “My Town”

 

Тема: My Town. Revision. (Module 6).

 

Мета: повторити та узагальнити пройдений лексико-граматичний матеріал (Модуль 6).

 

Лексичний матеріал:

pet shop, toy shop, school, park, supermarket, hospital, cinema, police station, restaurant, playground, zoo, church, theatre, garden.

 

Граматичні структури:

There’s a (pet shop).

There are (two) (hospitals) in my town.

Is there a (zoo) in your town? – Yes. / No.

 

Очікувані результати

Учень / учениця:

-         розпізнає засвоєні назви будівель та локацій у місті в знайомому контексті та в супроводі малюнків;

-         описує своє місто, використовуючи засвоєні граматичні структури;

     -   ставить і відповідає на запитання за малюнками про локації у місті.

 

Lesson Procedure

 

I.

 

1. Greetings. Emotional set-up for the lesson.

T: Good morning, dear students. It’s time to start our lesson. Let’s sing our greeting song.

Now ask each other about your mood. S1: How are you? – S2: I’m (fine).

 

2. Announcing the topic of the lesson and the learning outcomes.

T: Look at the picture.                                                                    

What can you see there? (a town). What is our topic? (My Town).

Today we have a Revision Lesson.

Our task for today is to revise all the vocabulary and grammar we have learnt in Module 6.

II.

 

1. Vocabulary Revision.

 

1) Game “Hot Card” (Whole-class work).

Hand out a flashcard of one of the places in a town. Once you play the music, the students will have to pass the flashcard to the student sitting next / close to them. When you stop the music, the student getting the flashcard has to hold it up and say the word aloud.

 

2) Game “Bingo” (Individual work).

The teacher calls out the words one at a time. When the students recognize the word that is on their cards, they cross it out. When the words crossed line up to make a complete horizontal row, the student calls out “Bingo”! and wins the game.

3) Game “Scrambled Words” (Individual work / Pair work).

Each students gets 3 words to unscramble. Then pairs exchange their papers and check each other’s words.

3. Grammar Revision.

 

1) Game “Noughts and Crosses” (Speaking / Group work).

 

Draw a noughts and crosses grid of nine squares on the board. Each square is numbered from 1 to 9 and contains a picture of some place / places in a town. Divide the class into two teams: “Noughts” and “Crosses”. The task is to say a sentence beginning with “There is / There are” on the picture in the square. The starting team picks a number. If they produce a correct sentence, they get to fill the square with either a cross or a nought. If they are wrong, the second team get a chance to produce a sentence. The winning team are the first to get a horizontal, vertical or diagonal line of noughts or crosses.

 

2) A Guessing Game (Speaking / Whole-class work).

One student gets a picture of a town. The rest of the class have to guess what place there is in his/her town by asking: Is there a ... in your town? The student’s answers should be: No. / Yes. There are two cinemas in my town.

 

3) True / False (Listening / Individual work).

Students look at the picture, listen to the statements and mark them as True / False.

4) Read and Draw (Group work).

The students work in five groups. They read a text about some Ukrainian city / town and draw a mind map based on the text.

Then the groups present their mind maps to the class and speak about their city / town.

 

Group 1.

This is Kyiv. Kyiv is in Ukraine. It is on the Dnipro River. There are gardens and parks in Kyiv. There are also theatres, museums and churches. There is a big zoo in Kyiv too. It’s a beautiful city!

Group 2.

Україна Львів. . — стокове фото

This is Lviv. Lviv is in Ukraine. There are theatres, museums and old churches in Lviv. There are also restaurants and big supermarkets. There are parks and gardens in Lviv too. It’s a beautiful city!

Group 3.

This is Vinnytsia. Vinnytsia is in Ukraine. There are shops and supermarkets in Vinnytsia. There are also hospitals and police stations. There is a theatre in Vinnytsia too. It’s a beautiful city!

This is Poltava. Poltava is in Ukraine. There are supermarkets and hospitals in Poltava. There are also parks and gardens. There are churches, museums and cinemas in Poltava too. It’s a beautiful city!

This is Kharkiv. Kharkiv is in Ukraine. There are schools, toy shops and pet shops in Kharkiv. There are also big hospitals and restaurants. There are theatres, cinemas and parks in Kharkiv too. It’s a beautiful city!
