My Hobby. Free Time Activities.
Objectives:
To revise and practice vocabulary on the topic of the lesson;
To enrich pupils’vocabulary on the given topic;
To teach to use the gained knowledge and information in speech and in writing;
To develop pupils’ skills in listening, reading, speaking and writing;
To improve pupils’communicative skills;
To provide interactive work in groups;
To bring up the respect to hobbies of different people.
Materials: a laptop,worksheets,a blackboard, posters.
Procedure
I.Introduction of the lesson
1. Greetings
T: Good morning, boys and girls, good morning dear guests. Nice to see you.
Ps: Good morning, teacher. Good morning, dear guests.
T: How are you today? I propose to choose your mood sticking your photo near the smile
T: I see you are fine today and ready for our lesson
2. Announcement of the topic and aims of the lesson
T: Dear boys and girls, look at the blackboard. Can you guess what are we going to talk about at our today’s lesson?
Ps: I think, we are going to speak about hobby.
T: Yes, you are right. Our today’s theme is “ My hobby. Free Time Activities”. We are going to talk about things that we usually do when we have spare time. You will repeat words and practice your listening, reading, speaking and writing skills. You will play some games and do some exercises and by the end of our meeting you’ll know about your classmates’ hobbies.
Today we have an unusual lesson. Imagine that we are in the magic train. And we are going on a trip.
II. The main part of the lesson

T: Let’s revise the words. Look at the screen and match the pictures with the words.
Our first station is called “Brainteaser” .
We have to solve the puzzle to continue our travelling. Let’s do the sums:

3. Ask and answer the questions.
T: We continue our travelling. Our second station is called “The mime game”.
Some pupils go to the blackboard and mime different activities. Others ask questions and guess the words
P1: Are you dancing?
P2: No, I am not.
P3: Are you skating?
P2: Yes, I am!
4. Listening.
T: We are arriving at the station “Cinema”. First of all read the sentences, then watch a video and do exercises.
Many pupils of our school have interesting hobbies. Lara is 11 years old. She likes writing poems and painting pictures. Tom is 15 years old and he has very interesting hobbies. He likes dancing, designing Internet sites and playing piano. Robert is almost 13 years old. His hobbies are playing football and reading detective stories. Our pupils do many interesting things and they are very busy. They also love different subjects. Tom is the best pupil at math. Lara is good at art and literature and Robert is one of the best pupils at PE. Their hobbies help them study well too.

T: Our train is leaving for the next stop “Guessing Game”. There are different parts of the texts in our classroom. Your task is to find the sentences of your group,then make up stories, read and guess the names of hobbies. After that discribe them.
1: People like to spend their free time near the rivers or lakes. They often go there with their friends. They can have a picnic there. They go usually there in summer but some people like to go there in winter too. Also they can boil fish soup after going there. (Fishing)
2: It is a very beautiful and good kind of hobby. You can visit dancing club after lessons or dance at home. If you can dance well, you can show it at the disco, at the parties with your friends! (Dancing)
3: People like to make new dishes. They often cook for the family and for their friends. They can present the food and lay the table beautifully. They use spices. They can boil or fry meat, fish, and chicken and make desserts. (Cooking)
8. Speaking
Merry-Go-Round Activity
T: We are arriving at the station “ My Hobby”. It’s high time to know about your hobbies and we’ll do it with the help of “Merry-Go-Round” activity. Please, count in twos and form two circles: internal and external. Stand face to face. Smile to each other and make up your own dialogues following the pattern:
- What is your hobby?
- My hobbies are singing and drawing. And what is your hobby?
But after the word ‘merry-go-round” outer circle starts moving making a step to the left. And therefore pupils will get a new companion. Be attentive and try to remember everybody’s hobby.
T: Now tell us about everybody’s hobby.

III. Summarizing
