Aims
Stage IV
The main part of the lesson
1. Reading and translating the text by Olexandr Prylutskyi
Once upon a time a little boy Maxim and his family lived in a big city N. His nickname was Neposyda. He never did what he was asked about and did everything the other way round. He was offended when he was called “the baby” as he had been in the first form for two weeks. He wasn’t a baby any more. His parents worked and Maxymko stayed with his grandmother who led him to school as there were a lot of cars and they had to cross the road.
-Max, wait a minute, please. I’ll see you to school , - the granny said.
That was like a push on his back! He took a bag, unlocked the door quietly and sneaked out. In a minute he stood at the noisy crossroads which was full of huge cars, buses and trolleybuses. Some people were passing by, the others were walking on the white lines but he was standing as if he was stuck to the ground. He was frightened. Maxymko used to cross that terrible place with his grandma. He didn’t know what to do any more. He was embarrassed to come back home. He felt confused. There were tears in his eyes because he felt confused and frightened.
-What’s happened to you? – the pedestrians asked him. But sobbing the boy kept silent and was ashamed of telling about his problem.
-You’re here! – the grandma said strictly. – I said you to wait. But you didn’t listen to me and got into trouble.
In a second the grandmother became kinder.
-Do you want to go to school on your own?
He nodded his head.
-Firstly, you need to be in the magic country of “Striped Stick” where your teacher will take you to.She’ll also help you to learn road traffic rules. Then you’ll be able to walk down the streets freely and I’ll allow you to go to school by yourself.
Max smiled. And taking his granny’s hand they went to school.
2. Explaining new grammatical material and learning Past Simple.
Pupils underline sentences in Past Simple in the text.
3. Rest time
Watching the video and singing the song “Marry had a little lamb”. Everybody has got the lyrics of it.
Mary had a little lamb
Little lamb, little lamb
Mary had a little lamb
Its fleece was white as snow
And everywhere that Mary went
Mary went,Mary went
Everywhere that Mary went
The lamb was sure to go
He followed her to school one day
School one day, school one day
He followed her to school one day
Which was against the rule
It made the children laugh and play
Laugh and play, laugh and play
It made the children laugh and play
To see a lamb at school
And so the teacher turned it out
Turned it out, turned it out
And so the teacher turned it out
But still he lingered near
And waited patiently
Patiently, patiently
And waited patiently
Till Mary did appear
Mary had a little lamb
Little lamb, little lamb
Mary had a little lamb
Its fleece was white as snow
And everywhere that Mary went
Mary went, Mary went
Everywhere that Mary went
The lamb was sure to go
