Theme: Holidays in Ukraine 

Aims:

●                 активізувати лексичний матеріал за темою уроку, практикувати читання з розумінням прочитаного тексту. ● розвивати комунікативні здібності учнів, розвивати навички читання.

●                 виховувати дисципліну, повагу до однокласників, звичку до систематичної розумової праці.

Type of the lesson: урок застосування вмінь і навичок. Activities at the lesson: робота з підручником, робота з зошитом, робота з онлайн іграми, робота з картками. Equipment: підручник, аудіозаписи, робочий зошит, комп’ютер, картки, відео, онлайн ігри.

Procedure

І. Introduction

1.Greeting

T: Good morning, dear children. You look very happy. It’s great! So, let’s start our lesson. 

Pupils, look at the blackboard. Here is a puzzle for you to do. There are some pictures. Name all the words in the pictures, take only the first letter of each word and you will read the topic of today’s lesson.

-Now  prepare our tongues and revise letters. Please look at the screen and name letters and words:

-So, I am sure you know much about holidays. Today we shall revise some material and speak about some other popular holidays. I hope you will learn something interesting about well-known holidays in Ukraine.

-   What is your favourite holiday?

-   How do you spend holidays? (As for me, I spend holidays with my family)

-   Where do you spend your favourite holiday? (As for me, I spend it at home)

2. Look at the blackboard. You can see a lot of different words. Let’s choose the words on the topic “Holidays in Ukraine”. 

Words: sweets, to decorate, presents, to celebrate , cards, a cake , candles, to sing carols, to get flowers, to wear vyshyvankas, to wear fancy dress.

T: Pupils, listen to my short texts, guess what holiday it is and fill in the table. 

1.   This is the day when we decorate fir-trees with toys.  (New Year’s Day) 

2.   This is the day when we celebrate the independence of our country.                   (Independence Day)

3.   This is the day when men give flowers to women. (Women’s Day)

4.   This is the day when we paint eggs and bless food in the church. (Easter)

5.   This is the day when we celebrate the birth of Christ.

7.Work in the copybooks.

T.: Open your copybooks, please, write the date.

You should complete the invitation card with missing words Use the words: o’clock, Friday, party, Kate, invite, friends, celebrate, Love.
