In the first century A.D., the Roman Empire represented the largest political and social state in Europe. The Roman Emperor Hadrian ordered the construction of a long wall across northern England. This structure became known as Hadrian's Wall. It was built from West to East оn the border of Scotland and England to defend from enemies. It took 6 years to build the wall.

The cliff face, which reaches 350 feet (110 m) in height, it`s a composition of chalk and black flint. The cliffs, stretch for eight miles (13 km). The point where Great Britain is closest to continental Europe, on a clear day the cliffs are visible from France, approximately 20 miles (32 km) away.
