Objectives:

•          to revise grammar material (Passive);
•          to practice doing exercises;
•          to make up sentences using Passive.

Materials: SB, WB, Grammar Express CD-ROM.

Equipment: IP BOARD

 

            For this purpose at first two lessons the task of the teacher was to fresh in memory of pupils when it is used and also its formation.

Prosedure.

1.Warming up.

T. use the Language table to remind Ps. how the passive is formed by combining the verbs  to be (in the tense required) with the past participle of the main verb.

2. Listening.

Ps. listen and then read the small story about Stonehenge. They translate sentences and explain using passive.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

3. Practice.

 

          Using educational computer programs which give a fine opportunity for realization of this task, using various exercises on mastering of this material, the teacher at these first two lessons copes with a task in view.

 

           Pupils carry out various exercises  together and individually.

Such program as Grammar Expressgives also a fine opportunity at performance of exercises at each necessity to address to the grammatical directory.  Pupils  can find explanations of  using and  formation of Passive.

4. The next task for Ps.

Use the information to make complete sentences in the passive about the statue of Liberty. Use these verbs: locate, sculpt, complete, make of, give, visit, miss./

To highlight the use of the passive , T. asks comprehension questions:

 

              What is “Cats” based on?

              Who was it composed by?

              Who was it directed by?

              When and where was it first produced?

              Where else has it been performed?

     What reputation has it got?

 

7. Summing up.

For homework, Ps. can each devise a similar set of true/false quiz questions about inventions (using the passive).

As an alternative, Ps. may write a description of an audition or interview which they have had.
