Тема уроку: A trip to London

Мета:

• навчальна: ознайомити учнів з цікавими фактами із історії Великої Британії  і Лондона та їх визначними пам’ятками архітектури; активізувати знання лексичних одиниць за темою «Лондон», описувати місце/пам’ятку історії/споруду, виражати своє особисте ставлення, вдосконалювати компетенції читання, аудіювання й усного та писемного монологічного мовлення, збільшення обсягу знань про соціокультурну специфіку мови країни, що вивчається, вдосконалення умінь будувати своє мовне висловлювання, мовну поведінку адекватно цій специфіці;

• розвиваюча: розвивати логічне мислення, увагу та зорову пам'ять, спостережливість, удосконалювати артикуляцію звуків, розвивати усні комунікативні уміння з опорою на наочність, уважно стежити за презентованою інформацією, ефективно співпрацювати під час групової роботи, мотивувати готовність брати участь в іншомовному спілкуванні, учити працювати у групі, розвивати соціокультурну компетенцію;

• виховна: виховувати почуття поваги  до культури та традицій народу, мова якого вивчається, зацікавленість у розширенні своїх знань, поєднання навчального матеріалу з життям, загальну культуру учнів.

PROCEDURE

І. Greeting Hallo song

T: Good morning, pupils. I'm very glad to see you today.

 

I hope you are fine, great, wonderful.

Ps: Good morning, teacher. We are fine, thank you.

 

ІІ. Aim

T: Today we are going to speak about London and its parts. You will learn many interesting facts about them. By the end of the lesson you should be able to speak about the capital of the United Kingdom.

The motto of the lesson:

It's better to see something once than hear about it many times.

 

A problem question:“What is London famous for?”. We will answer this question at the end of the lesson.

 

 

ІІІ. Warming up.

• Close your eyes, think about  London and try to imagine it in your mind.

• Describe what you “saw” in your mind.  (museums, palaces, churches, a beautiful city)
• What things do you associate with London? (double-deckers, queen)

 

Teacher: I’ve received a letter from London. It is from Mary Poppins (слайд Mary Poppins):

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I wrote the answer to her letter and I told her that we have been studying the topic “Great Britain.London” at our lessons, and I have also written her about our wish to visit London. So she decided to make a virtual trip for us, but it will be unusual. We should do some quests in order to know many new information about London and some other interesting sights of London.

 

Before doing the tasks from miss Poppins I propose you to watch through the video about some London’s sights, which we are going to attend.

So, let’s go! We have the 1^st task/

Take your phones and scan the qr-code. We have the videotask at the site Edpuzzle. When you finish, I will see your results.

 

 

T: I proposed some of you to be guides at our trip. At home you prepared some information about London’s sights.

So now our guides will help you to make a trip to London. With the help of Google Maps we can walk throuh these places.  Listen to them very carefully, look at the screen and try to remember the most interesting London's sights.

Great job, children. Let’s make a word cloud with the names of the places of interest. I will send it to Merry Poppins and she will see that you have already known much about London. So write in our chat the names of your favorite places in London and I will do the word cloud.

Our trip is going to the end. I was very glad to travel with you. We know a lot about London.  So answer my question now. What is London famous for?

 

 

London is famous for Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, British Museum, Tower Bridge and others.

 

London is also known for its rich history.

 

 London is famous for double-decker buses, museums and galleries, beautiful parks.

 

The next lesson we will learn how to build routes in Google Maps from one place in London to another.
