Objectives:

  • to develop pupils’ listening skills
  • to review vocabulary
  • to broaden pupils’ outlook

Outcomes:

By the end of the lesson pupils will be able to name 8 colours and identify them in the song, to count from 1 to 10 and name numbers in different order.

Level: A1

Material: flashcards with colours and numbers, recorders of songs and video, colorful papers, a ball, a puppet

Procedure

  1. Greetings

T: Good morning children! Nice to see you! Let’s sing a song.

Pupils sing the song “Hello Song”

  1. Warming-up

T: How are you today?

Ps: I am happy

I am tired

I am thirsty

I am hungry

I am sleepy

Pupils answer the question and show the gestures according to their mood

  1. Subject and aim presentation

T: Let’s start. Today we will revise numbers and colours. We will sing, dance, watch video and play games.

  1. Listening.

Come here. Make a circle.

Pupils listen and sing the song “Make a circle big, big”

  1. Game “Hi Five”

T: Let’s play. Do you remember the game “Hi Five”?

Pupils stand in the circle. One of them come to the centre of this circle, say “hello” and name himself/herself. Then this pupil point to someone else in the circle. Another child come to the centre and gives “hi five” to his mate, says “hello” and name himself/herself. Previous participant stands on the place of his partner.

  1. Game “True or false”

T: Let’s review the colours. Sit down. I’ll show you a picture with colour and name it. If it’s true, stand up, turn around and clap your hands. If it’s false, just keep silent.

  1. Listening

T: Let’s watch a video and sing the song “Rainbow”

After listening teacher asks pupils what colours were mentioned in this song.

T: What colours did you hear?

Ps: Green

Yellow

Red

  1. Game “Jump and say”

T: Look at the floor. There are different colours here. One by one jump on these colours and name them.

  1. Speaking

T: Thank you so much! Great! Take your sits. Do you remember my friend Mr. Rhino? He has birthday today!

Teacher imitates Mr. Rhino’s talk.

Mr. Rhino: Hi! Nice to see you again? I am Mr. Rhino. I am 8 today. How old are you, Misha?

How old are you, Liza?

  1. Game “Pass the ball”

Let’s count from 1 to 10. Pass the ball and name a number. Let me start.

T: One

P1: Two

P2: Three

  1. Game “What’s missing”

T: Let’s play. Look at the blackboard. There are numbers from 1 to 10. Close your eyes. I’ll put away a number. Guess what number is missing.

  1. Colouring

T: Prepare your crayons. I’ll give you shits of paper. Colour a number with a colour I’ll tell. For example, green is for one. So you will colour number one with green.

  1. Summarizing

Thank you very much for your work. You are super! Now it’s time to say “goodbye”! Let’s sing a song.
