2. Сообщение учащихся о жизни и творчестве Шекспира

Pupil 1: William Shakespeare is the greatest of all playwrights and poets of all times. The name of William Shakespeare is known all over the world. The last half of the 16th and the beginning of the 17th centuries are known as the Golden Age of English Renaissance and sometimes are called “The Age of Shakespeare”.

Pupil 2: People often call Shakespeare “Our National Bard”, “The Immortal Poet of Nature”. We really know few facts of his life and many of them are doubtful. But some facts are known to us and are proved by documents.

Pupil 3: The first fact of Shakespeare’s biography is that he was born on April 23, 1564 in Stratford-on-Avon. His father was a glove maker. His mother was a daughter of a rich farmer in the village of Wilmcote. He was educated at the King’s new school in Stratford. He learned grammar, Latin and logic at the Grammаr school and then developed his literary skill.

Pupil 4: We also know that being 18 years old, William married Anne Hathaway, who was 9 years older than he. They had a daughter Susanna and twins – son Hamnet and daughter Judith. His wife didn’t like theatre.

Pupil 5: There were no theatres in England then. Groups of actors travelled from town to town showing performances in the streets. Sometimes actors came to Stratford – on – Avon. The boy went to see all their shows and liked them very much. He wanted to be an actor. Sometimes he wrote little plays and staged them with his friends.

Pupil 6: When he was 21, William went to London. There he joined a group of actors. At first he only helped actors and then began writing plays for them. By 1592 he had been an important member of a well-known acting company. He wrote 38 plays and 154 sonnets. He described the sights and sounds of London in his plays.

Pupil 7: William Shakespeare's plays were staged more and more they become famous. The theatre where he worked was called "The Globe". It became the first professional theatre. Everyone knows Shakespeare's plays. The most famous of them are "Othello", "Hamlet", "Romeo and Juliet", "King Leer".

Pupil 8: Shakespeare showed the real life and attitudes between people. Love and death, friendship and treason, devotion and lie are one the main ideas of his plays. Shakespeare's works will always be interesting for all people.

Pupil 9: It is known that only in 1616 at the height of his fame Shakespeare returned to Stratford where on April 23, 1616 he died. He was buried in a fine old church in Stratford.
