Topic of the lesson: hobbies

Lesson Aim

Pupils will apply knowledge of hobby to support leisure time.

Learning Objectives

• to revise information about different hobbies regarding Ss’ interests.
• to develop supportive responses to hobby facing Ss’ interests.
• to make responsible decisions relating to hobbyto activate some words and word-combinations in speaking;
• to present and practice some new expressions;
• to develop pupils` creative abilities;
• to develop pupils` speaking, reading, listening and speaking skills;
• to practice pupils in group and pair activities.

Lesson procedure:

1. Greeting:

 Good morning сhildren. I hope you are fine today, aren`t  you?

2. Aim:

Now you will guess the theme of our lesson. Look at the slide and say what game it is. The first letter is… (children name the first letter of the sport which appears on the slide and in such a way guess the theme) Yes, today we’ll speak about different hobbies, interests, activities that you prefer. By the end of the lesson you will be able to tell what you like doing and what you don`t like doing in your spare time using new phrases.

3. Phonetic exercise

First we`ll practice in our pronunciation. Listen and repeat

Vocabulary practice

• Look at the pictures and name the hobbies (answer the questions- what music do you like listening to? Who is your favourite singer? Do you prefer football or volleyball? Have you ever played rugby? Is martial art hobby for boys or girls? Who likes fashion? Have you got a pet? What is it? )
• Work in groups of four

Divide the activities into outdoor and indoor ( try to name as many outdoor activities as possible )

Look at the slide. In the left column you can see phrases which help us to speak about hobbies that we like and in the right column you can see phases that we use when we don`t like some hobbies. Read them and write down in your copybooks.

Answer the questions: What are you interested in? What are you into? What music are you fond of? What TV programmes do you enjoy watching? What sport do you hate? What activities don`t you like? Are you into collecting stamps? Are you fond of fashion?

-    Look at the slide and match the parts of the phrases.

• Work in pairs. Look at the table complete it (say hobbies that you like/don`t like).
• Work in pairs. Choose a classmate and tell about his likes and dislikes but don`t say his/her name. (children listen to several pairs and try to guess the name of the classmate).
• Look at the slides and tell what activities Bill is interested in and what he doesn`t like doing.

Pre-listening activity

What are you into? Are you interested in fashion? And you? What is your favourite game? Now we will listen to the dialogue. Your task is to  choose the correct answer.

Make up your own dialogues.

Now tell me about sport, computer, pets in Sara`s life

What is she interested in? Is she fond of skiing?

What TV programmes does she enjoy watching? What music does she like watching?
