Тема: Скоро свято!

Мета:

навчальна: удосконалювати навички аудіювання, читання, говоріння, письма; ознайомити з новими лексичними одиницями та граматичними структурами; розвиваюча: розвивати інтелектуальні та пізнавальні здібності учнів, різні типи пам’яті – слухову, зорову, увагу, уяву, учити працювати у парі, групі, логічно висловлювати думку; виховна: виховувати культуру співбесіди, риси характеру, такі як доброзичливість, толерантність, активність, культуру спілкування, виховувати зацікавленість у розширенні свої знань та вмінь.

Обладнання: картки та плакат на тему «Свята. Зимові свята», «Емоції».

 

Хід уроку

Warm-up

  •      “Guess!” Game

Hide an object behind your back, so pupils cannot see it, and ask pupils to guess what it is, “Is it a (pen)? – Yes, it is. / No, it isn’t.”

Start to draw an object (e.g., a school object: a book, a pen) on the board, stopping at intervals to ask pupils, “What’s this?” Pupils guess what it is. The pupil who guesses correctly can draw the next picture.

Presentation

  1. Listen and sing (p. 52, ex. 1).

Books open. Ask pupils to look at the pictures. Pupils look at the pictures.

Ask pupils to guess what they are going to speak about at the lesson. Pupils answer.

Tell pupils to look at the pictures again. Explain pupils that they are going to sing a song about Christmas and New Year.

Ask pupils to read the words of the song together, then read them pausing after each line. Pupils repeat the phrases chorally and individually and mime emotions. Play the CD. Sing the song chorally or in groups. Tell pupils to look at the pictures carefully. Play the CD. Pupils listen and point to the correct picture.


Ask some pupils to write the rhyme on the board. The others have to write it down in their copy books.

Play the CD again. Pupils take turns to read out the rhyme. Help them with pronunciation. Ask pupils to circle the holiday words. The strongest can do it on the board to check up.

Read it again and pause after each sentence. Read every sentence dramatically and tell pupils to repeat after you. If necessary, translate the sentences into their own language.

After reading: Ask pupils, “What winter holidays do you know?” Ask pupils to act out the rhyme.

Practice

  1. Point and say. (p. 52, ex. 2).

Ask pupils to look at the emotion pictures. Revise emotion words using the emotion flashcards. Make sentences, for example: “They are happy. He is tired.” and show the similar picture. Stick the flashcards to the board and repeat the words. Then write the word under every picture. Then make the sentences using he table from the exercise.

Pronounce the sentences clearly. Do choral and individual repetition. Monitor the activity and help where necessary. Then say any emotion word again and ask pupils to point to the emotion picture in their books. Translate the difficult words if it’s necessary.

Write the sentences on the board. Ask pupils to copy the sentences in their exercise books.

  •      “Disappearing items” Game Summarizing
  1. Play the miming game. (p.52, ex. 3).

Stick the emotion flashcards on the board or around the classroom. Point to the pictures, pupils listen and point to the correct pictures and repeat the words.

Hold up the “tired” flashcard and elicit “tired” from the pupils.

Say, “Are you tired?” a number of times and act out this emotion. And answer “No, I am not. / Yes, I am!”

Ask the pupils to repeat. Do the same with “Are you hungry?”, “Are you hot?” and “Are you sad?”.

Ask pupils to repeat each phrase. Do the same with the rest of the phrases.

Do choral and individual repetition of the phrases. Monitor the activity, checking for correct pronunciation. Praise their efforts, “Good! Well done!”

Ask pupils to plat this mime game using the phrases.

Finish the lesson by saying “Goodbye” to pupils as they leave. Pupils say “Goodbye” to you.
