Урок у 9 класі «Тур навколо Сполученого Королівства»

Клас:  9 ( за новою програмою, підручник О. Карп’юк)

Тема уроку: «Тур навколо Сполученого Королівства» (урок у комп’ютерному класі з використанням смарт-дошки)

Мета уроку:

•              навчальна: вдосконалення лексико – граматичних навиків (лексика з теми, вживання артиклів з географічними назвами), усного мовлення (логічне висловлювання та реагування на мовленнєві вислови), навичок читання та аудіювання;
•              розвивальна: розвиток здібностей до порівняння, висновку, самостійності навчання учнів, довгострокової та оперативної пам’яті; сприяння розвиткові аналітичного, критичного та образного мислення через використання проблемних ситуацій та творчих завдань; розвиток уміння працювати в групі та індивідуально;
•         виховна: збагачувати знання учнів з країнознавства англомовних держав, виховувати почуття поваги до культури та традицій країни, мова якої вивчається, поширювати кругозір; формувати соціальну, соціокультурну, мовну та мовленнєву компетенції.

 

Задачі:

• поглибити знання учнів з країнознавства ( географічне положення, адміністративний устрій, видатні місця, традиції та культура  Великої Британії);
• узагальнити та систематизувати знання учнів з теми.

ЛО для повторення: to border on, to be situated, average, highlands, etc.

Oбладнання: мультимедійний пристрій, проектор, старт-дошка, ноутбук учителя, комп’ютери учнів, роздавальний матеріал (із завданнями для роботи в групах), картки.

Тип уроку: комбінований (застосування умінь та навичок)

 

Хід уроку

І. Підготовка до сприйняття іншомовного мовлення

Greeting ( привітання)

Teacher: Good morning dear friends! I am glad to meet you at our lesson which is going to be not usual. We are going to have a challenge-flight. Excited? Moreover you will have to do all your writing tasks at the computers.  But first of all we need to figure out what the topic of our lesson is. Actually this is your first challenge. I need to divide you all into 3 groups to find 3 envelopes with the tasks. As soon as they are solved you will know the topic. Don’t forget you all have only 1 minute to find the envelopes, so do everything fast! Let’s start.

The first task for the first group: answer 5 questions within 10 seconds (обирається 1 учень з команди, який дає відповіді протягом 10 секунд):

1. What’s your name?
2. What country are you from?
3. What’s the capital of Ukraine?
4. Do you like English?
5. Can you speak English?

Well done! To find another envelope the second group will have to leave the classroom. You have 5 seconds! Do it! Let’s count! (конверт ховається за дверима ( наприклад, одразу за вивіскою на дверях аудиторії))

Got it! Well, the most difficult task is for the third group. You need to ask the head master politely to give you the envelope. Try! Wish you good luck! (передбачається, що директор ( або інший запрошений на урок) не добре володіє англійською)

Ok guys, now when you have all the envelopes you can open them and unscramble the letters to figure out the topic of our lesson. And you have 15 seconds. (розкрили тему уроку: “Tour around the UK”)

Well, our flight will be around Great Britain! But to make our flight even more real we need to be in a real plane and to listen to a real stewardess’s instructions. So let’s listen! Be attentive! (a stewardess is giving instructions/стюардеса надає інструкції щодо правил поведінки під час перельоту-відео на екрані)

Teacher:Well, before we arrive at our first place I want you to refresh your knowledge about the country we are travelling to. Answer my questions:

1. What’s the official name of Great Britain?
2. How many parts does the country consist of?
3. What river does the capital stand on?
4. What’s the name of the country’s flag?
5. Who is the head of the country?
6. Who is the current Prime-Minister of GB?

Well done! Before I forgot, you will have a challenge-task on every stage of our trip. And exactly right now you are going to have another challenge from the Prime-Minister of Great Britain, Theresa May.( Всі завдання  - це відео звертання від відомих людей Британії ( переодягнені учні інших класів)

Theresa May: Good morning dear Ukrainian tourists. I’ve heard you know a lot about our country. But how well do you know about its landmarks? Have you seen them before? So, tell us please what you know about famous landmarks of the UK. Thanks and welcome to the UK! (The students are presenting their hometask about famous landmarks/ презентування домашнього завдання – відео «Визначні місця країн Сполученого Королівства»).

Teacher: Great! Oh if we are flying over Buckingham Palace why not to visit its hostess, the Queen? Let’s listen to her task.

The Queen: Good morning, smart young ladies and gentlemen! It is so nice to meet such energetic and intelligent guests in my country. I will allow you to visit my Palace if you cope with another challenge. You will see the sentences about my country on your computers. Your task is to correct all the mistakes in them. Good luck, smarties! ( The students are doing lexical exercise/ виконання вправи на знання лексики та країнознавчого матеріалу з теми – виправлення помилок у реченні)

1. There are five different countries in the United Kingdom.
2. Altogether more than 56 million people live in Britain.
3. Northern Ireland is situated in the northern part of Britain.
4. The national currency is euro.
5. Baker Street is the residence of Prime-Minister.

Teacher: Yes, you are right. The official place of the Prime-Minister’s work is Downing St.,10.  But what is Baker St. associated with? Yes, Sherlock Holmes and his loyal friend - Dr. Watson. So, here is the next challenge for you.

Sherlock Holmes: Well, well. It is so interesting to watch your logical thinking, dear friends. But what if you have one more task?

Dr. Watson: When we are speaking about Britain what are we speaking about first?

Sherlock: Of course about weather!

Dr. Watson: Yes! Britain is famous all over the world for its weather. You already know that the UK is an island state and that means that it is surrounded by water.

Sherlock:  And I advise you to take a mackintosh with you!  Dear friends, do you know what a mackintosh is? Of course, you do. It’s a raincoat. But do you know that the word "Mackintosh" is a surname?

Dr. Watson: And now our task for you is to listen to the story about mackintosh and answer the questions. So be attentive! ( The students are listening to the reader and answering the questions / слухання аутентичного тексту (сприйняття на слух) та виконання завдання щодо змісту аудіювання. Бажано, щоб текст був записаний носієм мови)

• So, what does the word mean?
• Was Mackintosh a surname of a Scot or English?
• Why did he decide to rubberize his coat?

Teacher:  I can’t help but agree with Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson that the weather in the UK is too changeable and that London is the city of rain and fog. And now I think it’s time for us to have some break. So let’s read some tongue twister. Your task is to complete it with the words that rhyme and then read faster and faster. At the end try to read it with music, ok?  ( the students are working with tongue twister/ робота із скоромовкою ( підстановча вправа та фонетична розминка))

Teacher:  Would you like to have some magic at the lesson? Can you guess who is going to give you the next task? Yes, you are right! This is Harry Potter.

Harry Potter: Hi! I must say I am jealous as I didn’t have so many creative and positive friends at school. Anyway I want to check you too. Now you will see the text about the climate in the UK but all the parts are put in wrong order. You need to put them in order. It is so easy! Go ahead! ( the students are working with reading task/ робота із текстом ( підстановча вправа (поставити речення у правильній послідовності) та опрацювання тексту)

__3__ Average British temperatures do not rise above 32C in summer and do not fall below – 10C in winter.

__5__ They are cold, wet and unpleasant.

__2__ It is generally mild and damp.

__7__ British fogs and changeable weather have worldwide reputation.

__4__ The two worst months in Britain are January and February.

__6__ Summer months are rather cold and there can be a lot of rainy days.

Teacher: Well, I think we are almost done with all the challenges for today. But there is one request for you from one nice girl. She has a story for you and she needs your help.

The girl: Hello everyone. This is Helen writing to you to ask for advice. My parents want me to go to Great Britain to study at the language course. But I don’t want to go for lots of reasons. I know that the weather is wet and gloomy there and it is not warm even in summer. I know nothing about their culture and traditions. I will miss my friends! Can you help me please to decide if I need to go there. Thanks. Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Teacher:  Well my dear friends. It is time for debate. Can you please divide into 2 groups for discussion. The first group will have to give arguments for studying in GB while the other group will give us arguments for staying here. (the students are discussing the question and debating / обговорення в групах та проведення дебатів щодо проблемної ситуації)

Teacher:  Great job! We’ve managed to find both some cultural troubles and different ways of solving Lena’s question. So to give her detailed help I would ask you to write her e-mails ( 100 words) at home with your recommendations what to do in her case (оголошення домашнього завдання: скласти письмову відповідь дівчинці з порадою під час навчання на мовних курсах у Великобританії).

Teacher: Ok my dear friends. Today you were really active and smart. You’ve coped with all the challenges. So to summarize the lesson let’s fill this map – what we’ve learnt about the UK while travelling there? (the students are filling the map / заповнення карти « Про що ми дізналися на уроці» ( рефлексія))

We’ve learnt that the UK is:

- wet and mild climate,

- short rivers and low mountains,

- constitutional monarchy,

- famous landmarks,

- ancient buildings and monuments,

- long history and rich traditions.

Teacher:  Thank you very much for the lesson. We are almost at the place where we were travelling to so it is the time to listen to the stewardess’s instructions again. See you!
