The subject of the lesson:  Weather and Clothes

Aims:

  • ознайомити з новим лексичним матеріалом;
  • навчати та тренувати вживання вивчених лексичних одиниць,  граматичних структур  в  Present Simple  ,  Present Continuous , Past Simple  в усному та писемному мовленні за темою;
  • удосконалювати навички читання, письма, аудіювання, говоріння;
  • перевірити вміння учня використовувати вивчений матеріал при виконанні індивідуальної роботи;
  • розвивати мовні та мовленнєві навички учня за темою;
  • розвивати комунікативні здібності школярів;
  • розвивати ерудицію, логічне мислення;
  • виховувати толерантне ставлення учнів один до одного,вміння співпрацювати та допомагати,
  • прищеплювати інтерес до вивчення іноземної мови, усвідомлення її значимості в житті суспільства.

 Procedure

I.Підготовка до сприйняття іншомовного мовлення.

Greeting:

1.Good morning ,children!I am very glad to see you. How are you? Let`s start our lesson.Watch the video and pay attention the weather words and be ready to describe weather. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rD6FRDd9Hew

2.Answer the questions:

What weather words are mentioned in the text ?

What is the  weather like in winter?

What is the  weather like in autumn?

What is the  weather like in spring?

What is the  weather like in summer?

What is the  weather like today?

Do you like today`s weather?

What kind of weather do you like(dislike)?

Aim of the lesson :

Sometimes the weather is not very comfortable , but the people say: “There is no bad weather –there are bad clothes” or  “ Different seasons –different clothes”. So the topic of today`s lesson is “ Weather and Clothes.” We are going  to speak about suitable clothes for different kinds of weather. At the lesson we`ll learn new words ,read and listen to the text ,make up dialogues and practice grammar.You will be able to show the level of your speech and language competence on this topic.

II.Основна  частина урока.

1.Vocabulary practice

  1. Game. Now I want to see whether you know the names of the clothes. I choose a letter. Each person ,in turn ,gives an example of a word that begins with that letter. Say and write the words beginning with the letter “S”.( a shirt , a skirt , a sweater …)
  2. Look at the cards with the words and group them into the following groups: summer clothes , winter clothes.

(A scarf , a hat , mittens ,a coat ,a raincoat , a jacket , a dress , a skirt , a blouse , a shirt ,tights , socks ,trousers , gloves ,shorts.)

  1.  Choose the right word to do a correct commentary for the fashion show

 Ex.3 p.153

  2.Listening.

a) Pre-listening activity

How do you understand the proverb “Everything is good in its season” ?

b)  Listening.“ Everything is good in its season.”

There are four seasons in the year. Each of them brings different weather and different clothes. When it is hot, people wear T-shirts and shorts, sports shoes, socks and sandals.

Women wear light blouses and skirts. In summer people dress like this in Africa, Russia, Canada, Ireland, Great Britain and America.

In cold weather people usually put on warm clothes: jeans and trousers, sweaters and jackets, overcoats and caps. In winter they wear fur coats and fur caps, high boots and mittens or gloves. The proverb says: "There is no bad weather, there are bad clothes."

Another proverb says: "Everything is good in its season." Do you understand it?

When you think what to wear, choose the right dress. Think what is good on the sports ground and what is good at the party and why a long dress looks beautiful on a woman but is funny on a little girl.

When you buy clothes, try them on. Make sure that they are your size, that they suit you and that you like their colour.

 3.Speaking.

It`s time to make up dialogues. You want to go for a walk.Invite your friend to go out with you .Give him(her) an advice what clothesto put on.

Let`s divide into 4 groups.

Situation 1. It is winter.It is cold.

Situation 2. It is autumn. It is raining.

Situation 3.It is spring. It is warm.

Situation 4.It is summer. It is hot.

4.Reading.

  1. Pre-reading activity

It`s time for reading.But first  of all let`s learn new words and write down them into your vocabularies.

New words: event, size, to enjoy,to try on, finally, to be in a hurry , go back.

  1. Read the story to find  out which day is Jasmine`s favourite one.

5.Grammar.
