Цілі:

Практична:    активізувати лексичний матеріал теми, вдосконалювати навички усного     мовлення, аудіювання, навчати учнів працювати в групі,  

Освітня:           розширити знання учнів про Різдво у Великій Британії.

Розвиваюча:    розвивати навички монологічного мовлення.

Виховна:          прищеплювати інтерес до пізнання світу, виховувати почуття прекрасного.

Обладнання:   смарт TV,   презентація з символами та традиціями святкування Різдва у Великій Британії, картки з малюнками до загадок та завданнями з граматики, кросворди для роботи в групах, відео пісні «We wish you a merry Christmas», ялинка та іграшки.

 Тип уроку:     комбінований.

Хід уроку

1. Організаційний момент.

Greeting and aim of the lesson. Good morning, boys and girls. How are you today?  Do you like winter holidays? So, today we’ll speak about one of the winter holidays – Christmas in Great Britain.

What do you think we are going to do today? Yes, we are going to sing Christmas songs, play games, do exercises.

Warming up

• And now tell me, please, do you know when people celebrate Christmas in Great Britain? Yes, they celebrate it on the 25th of December. That’s the difference. Christmas is more important holiday than New Year. Christmas is a great holiday in Great Britain.
• Do you know what do people celebrate on Christmas?

Yes, we celebrate the birth of Christ.

- And now let’s name the symbols of Christmas in Great Britain, then read and translate the information:

1. Santa Claus. The origin of Santa Claus begins in the 4th century with Saint Nicolas. He was a very kind man and he loved children very much.

2. Christmas tree. A fir tree is the sign of everlasting life because its leaves are always green. Look at the Christmas Tree in London in Trafalgar Square.

 3. Holly. The holly with berries in winter has some magical powers.

 4. Mistletoe. People who meet under the mistletoe should kiss.

5. Christmas wreath. People hang it on the door of a house. Many centuries ago the wreaths were presented as gifts on Christmas Day.

 6. Christmas star. A bright star appeared in the sky when Jesus was born.

Working in groups

1) Now let’s work in groups. Do the tasks. (Учні отримують картки з кросвордами для повторення лексики)

2)Vocabulary task. Letter to Santa. (Учні отримують завдання на карточках, написати листа Санті.)

3) And now listen to the riddles and tell us what it is.

1. Higher than a house, Higher than a tree – Oh, whatever can that be? (A star)

 2. I come with cold and snow, But you like me, I know! (Winter)

 3. It is white, It is cold. You can ski on it. What is it? (Snow)

 4. He is a true friend of Santa, he carries him up in the sky. (Reindeer)

3). Виконання пісні «Jingle Bells».

4). Let’s play a game “Rudolf’s nose” (Учні діляться на дві команди і закритими очима підходять до дошки, де висить малюнок оленя без носа, намагаються прикріпити ніс.)

5). Виконання колядки двома мовами «Silent night».

III  Заключна частина уроку:
