A white dove is a traditional Christian symbol. In Christian Iconography, a dove also symbolizes the Holy Spirit 

Feeding pigeons is a popular activity.

Pigeons are wonderful as pets

Passenger Pigeon or Wild Pigeon lived in North America. It was a very social bird. It became extinct because of unregulated hunting.
