Since,  For

We use since when  we say the begnning of the period ( I know him since 2010)

We use for when we say the period of time (I know him for five years)

We don`t use for in expressionsss with all(all day,all morning, all week,all my life, etc.)

Exercise 1.(put in since or for)

1.Tom and I have known each other------- six months.

2.It`s been raining------- I got up this morning.

3.Tom`s father has been a policeman------- 20 years.

4.Yfve you been learning English-------a long time?

5.---------Christmas, the weather has been quite mild.

6.Ann has been on holiday-----three days.

7.That`s a very old car. I`ve had it------ages.

Exercise 2.(In this exercise you  have to imagine that two people are talking).

                B: No, it`s five years since I went on holiday

3.  A: Do you often play cards?(no/ a long time)

Exercise 3.(put in since or for)

1.She`s been working here (from April until now)

2.Shes been working here (six months)

3.I haven`t seen Tom (from Monday until now)

4. I haven`t seen Tom (three days)
