Тема: British literature.

Мета:

Освітня: відпрацювати фонетичні навички; вчити розуміти іноземну мову в ігрових ситуаціях; проконтролювати мовні навички та вміння учнів; проконтролювати рівень засвоєння учнями теми.

Розвиваюча: розвивати вміння застосовувати вивчені лексичні одиниці та граматичні правила в конкретній обстановці; розвивати здогадку та вміння швидко орієнтуватися в умовах непідготовленого монологічного мовлення, розвивати логічне мислення.

Виховна: прищеплювати цікавість до культури, історії, традицій англомовних країн; виховувати вміння працювати в колективі (команді).

Практична: практикувати використання вивчених лексичних одиниць, навчитись розпізнавати жанри та роди літератури, співвідносити твори з їх авторами, практикувати використання пасивної форми дієслова, підвести підсумок вивченого матеріалу.

Theme and aim of the lesson (greeting)

T: Hello, my dear pupils.  Dear students, welcome to our lesson which is dedicated to life and culture of English-speaking foreign countries. Today, during our lesson we are going to enrich your vocabulary on the topic, encourage your creative skills and responsibility, and cultivate your interest in learning about English-speaking countries. We are going to check your knowledge about the English-speaking literature.

Our today`s lesson is going to be in a form of a quiz show, so each of you could show us your skills and knowledge.

Warming up.

T: How are you today? I want to know how your mood is. Each of you just need to take one paper from your desk and show according word on it. Choose one word that can describe your mood. “Great! Ok! Boring!” during the lesson you can write new words on it if your mood change.

T: So, now when we are all well and ready, let’s start our Quiz.

Let’s deal into 3 teams and choose a leader of them. We’ll have teams of Mark Twain, Charles Dickens and William Shakespeare. So, just say “Mark, Charles, and William”. On the board I’ll write your team’s points. If you know the answer – just raise your flag. And our judge ….will give points for your answers.

Here are our rules: the captain raises the hand if the team is ready to answer, don’t interrupt each other’s, if your answer is correct – get a point

Now, let`s start our game.

Speaking.

T: On the board you see some sayings and you have to explain them, and agree or disagree with these statements. To answer these questions we have to remember quotations to start our discussing. They are at page 86 in your books.

P2: (It goes without saying that books play a great role in modern society and we can find a splendid world in them, exciting characters, breathtaking adventures. The importance of books is hard to overrate as it doesn’t measure in money on in other materialistic concepts, they’re valuable like treasure)

T: “There is no such thing as a moral or an immoral book. Books are well written or badly written”. – Oscar Wilde

P3: (Of course all of the books are worth reading but nowadays we have such notion like mass books, mass novels and frankly speaking not all of them have a big value, they have almost the same plot and characters and they are not interesting to read).

T: You have to listen to a certain paragraph of the text and try to guess its subgenre.

T: So do you remember your mood on the beginning of the lesson? Take them again. Is the mood you had at the beginning of the lesson better or worse than now? If it’s the same put your paper into your book. And now we see that our books are filled with our emotions and feelings.

T: Remember! Reading is to the mind what exercise to the body!
