A FUN DRIVE

Emma rides in the car with her mom. Her

mom turns on the music. A fast song

starts. Emma claps her hands and sings

along. Her mom smiles and moves her head.

Soon, the song stops and a slow track

plays. Emma turns off the radio. She looks

out the window.

FEELING SICK

Sam wakes up with a sore throat. His head feels
hot. His dad measures his temperature. Sam
stays in bed all day. The doctor comes to visit
him. She checks his throat and gives him sweet
syrup. Sam drinks hot tea with lemon. After two
days, he feels active again.

LOOKING FOR A SNACK

Anna is hungry after school. She looks

inside the fridge. The lemons are too

sour. The cold soup is too salty. The cake

is too sweet. The bread is too dry. Her

grandma enters the kitchen. She cuts a

fresh red apple. The apple tastes

delicious!

A DISTRACTION IN

CLASS

Mark does not like writing tasks. He starts
whispering a story. His classmates laugh loudly.
The teacher becomes cross. She asks Mark to sit
at a separate desk. Mark sits quietly for a few
minutes. He draws a picture in his notebook. Soon,
the teacher asks him to join the group again.

THE SECRET DAY

Today is Max’s birthday. He goes to school in the
morning. Nobody says "Happy Birthday." His
teacher gives him regular homework. His friends
do not mention the holiday. Max feels sad. He
walks home after school. He unlocks the door.
Suddenly, the lights turn on, and everyone
shouts, "Surprise, Max!"
