INTERESTING IDEAS FOR PRIMARY SCHOOL
It has become a tradition to develop and improve skills of the English language at our Language Events. Every month the children of our lyceum have a great opportunity to take part in interesting quests and shows, to become the actors of different plays, to become the participants of exciting games and they communicate with each other in English.
I would like to share with some ideas of my activities in the third form on the topic” Animals “.
Teacher-leader: Our group is called “Friendship”. This word consists of two simple words Friend and Ship. What is this?
The motto is :
“Our team is the best
From the South to the West”
Now we are going to divide into three teams according to the colourful
stripes. Take the stripe and become a member of the proper teams. Every team has got a folder of the green, orange, and yellow colours.
Now our teams are ready to work. The task for every team is to make up your own name of the team. Reflect it on the paper in an unusual way (pictures, words, various symbols etc.) After this task you need to choose the captain of the team.
After a few minutes of discussion there is a presentation of each team.
Write down as many words as possible which you can associate with the title “Friendship”.
Help
Respect
Friends
Love
School
Family
Sport
Adventure…
Which team will write most of all?
On the back of the pupil the card with the name of the animal is attached. This pupil cannot see it. He should guess the animal asking the questions:
Can I jump?
Where do I live?
What can I eat?
What colour am I?
Am I big or little?
(Children have practice in making questions, word order.)
On the card you can see a drill. The children should write it as soon as possible.

When the time is finished the teacher shows the card with the right word and the children check the words (tick/cross next to the words.)
The pupil takes the card and sees the name of the animal. The rest children cannot see it, they should guess. The pupils ask different questions:
Are you a domestic or a wild animal?
Do you live in the jungle?
Can you swim?
Do you eat meat or grass?
Have you got a long nose?
Is your tail long or short?
Everybody sings a song “Baby shark” moving in a proper way.
Each team gets the same cards with the same adjectives. They are mixed.
Animals can be big, small, fast, slow, ugly, beautiful…

The captains of each team are guides conduct tours around the zoo.
5-6 pupils stand in a line and hold the cards with the name of the animal. The guides tell some interesting facts about these animals.
The team whose captain told the most interesting exciting story is the winner.
Write down as many words as you can. The first word consists of three letters. The second one must have four letters. The next one –five etc. Every next word has to have one more letter than the previous word.

The participant shows an animal which was given by the other teams using only actions, no words. His team should say the right animal.
Which team is going to have the longest chain?
The pupil says the word on the topic “Animal”. The second one should say the first word and add one more. The third child says two first words and gives his own etc.
The game was loved by the children very much.
The children are in a circle and they are going to choose “a frog”. One person (the leader) is out of the circle and doesn’t know who “the frog” is. He\she comes back to the rest children, stands in the middle of the circle and must find “the frog”. At this time “the frog” shows the tongue quickly to anybody not to be noticed by the leader. The person whom was the tongue shown has to sit down. The game continues until “the frog” is defined.
Game “Squirrel”
Explain the words
-earthquake
-fire
-flood
The children stand in pairs raising hand up making “a house”. Inside it the person is sitting. It is “a squirrel”. There is a child (a leader) inside the circle. A leader tells one word “earthquake, fire or flood”. If the word “earthquake” is said all “the houses” must change the places in any way. If “fire” is said all “the squirrels” should find another house. And if the leader says “flood” all “the houses and the squirrels” must be in a rush to find “a new place”. The person who hasn’t got a pair is a leader.
It is exciting. However, the more children take part in the game the more interesting it is.

Every pupil one by one takes the card with the name of the animal and adds any adjective to it. For example
A strong lion
A fluffy cat
And fixes the card on the board in the right column.
Which list is longer? Wild or Domestic?
In the end the participants of the teams count the stars and the hearts.
