Topic: Back to school. My school is cool.

Aims:

- to develop students’ language skills using interactive forms (interview, discussion);

- to promote students’ creativity, to motivate students in expressing their opinions - on the problems under discussion;

- practice using school vocabulary and modal verbs

- to tech students to find specific information in the text;

- to develop students’ skills in giving opinions.

Outcomes: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
– match the subjects with  the activities;
– read ,listen to  and watch for specific information;
– identify new vocabulary items both in oral speech and in writing;
– conduct, analyze   the survey;
– create an ideal timetable

Equipment: laptop, sticks, table with model verbs, big flower “SCHOOL FAMILY” with harts, smiles with mood

Procedure

1. Introduction and Greeting

T: Hello children. My congratulation for you. It's new period in your school live. New friend, teacher, information.

I'm glad to see you. You are the pupils of the 5th form now. You are strong and healthy after your long summer holidays. I hope you had great time in summer. I am sure you are ready for active work. Let's start our lesson.

2. Warm up

Song «Hello»

(Вчитель запитує в кого який настрій, приклеючи на дошці відповідні смали. Після повторення лексики учні слухають пісню – повторюють пісню – відтворюють по-бажанню.)

 Game «Guess who is this?»

T: It's a pity I don't know you and any information about you. And that's why let's play a game «Guess who is this?» You have a piece of paper on your desks. Please, write your name and surname. Your task is – divide it into two parts. At the first part two things which you like. Start like this – I like…. At the second part write two or three things which you don't like. Start like this – I don't like… you have two minutes. (Вчитель зачитує про учня не називаючи імя, учні відгадують. Запис учня приклеюється на велику квітку «»).

Today's topic  is «Back to school. My school is cool!» During this topic we are going to speak, write, listen, learn new words, rules, make project.

T: Tell us, please, some information about your school, your class. How much do you know about your school? Answer the questions.

1. Is your school private or state?
2. How many floors are there?
3. How many students are there in your class?
4. How many teachers have you got?
5. How many lessons a day do you usually have?
6. When does the first lesson start?
7. When does the last lesson finish?
8. Do you were a school uniform?
9. Is your school an ideal school?

Grammar

T: Let’s speak about an ideal school. But at first let’s speak about grammar rules, about modal verbs - have to, don’t have to.

Summing up

T: ex.5 p.6 Let’s work in pairs. You have a piece of paper, write one or two sentences about yor ideal  school using modal verbs - have to, don’t have to.

T: Your job was great. I liked it. And I have a little presents for you (sticks). Everybody was active, clever and brave. Thank you.
