ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
Procedure
T: In the previous lessons we touched upon the problem of the environment. Let’s revise the words on the topic.
Suggested list of words.
A recycling bin, a plastic bottles, washing-up liquid, pre-packaged food, an aerosol can, a rubbish bin, etc.
Example: Rubbish looks and smells horrible.
T: Read a leaflet and find reasons for each instruction. In pairs ask and answer questions as in example.
Example:
P1: The leaflet says, “Try not to buy pre-packaged food”. Why?
P2: Because packaging creates a lot of rubbish.
P1: The leaflet says, “Use less washing-up liquid.” Why?
P2: Because it pollutes the seas, land and rivers. Etc.
HELPING THE ENVIRONMENT
There are many things we can do to protect the environment.
Try not to buy pre-packaged food. Packaging creates a lot of rubbish.
Use less washing-up liquid. It pollutes the seas, land and rivers.
Put aluminium cans into recycling bins. Factories can use them to make new things.
Use public transport (buses, strains, trams). Cars pollute the air.
Do not drop rubbish into the street. It looks and smells horrible. Use rubbish bins. Do not throw plastic bottles into the sea. Fish will die.
Do not use aerosols. They pollute the air.
T: Split into two groups and choose one problem to speak about.
