Тема уроку: Написання листа з метою вирішення ситуації

Цілі уроку:

Практична:

1. Активізувати лексику з теми «Навколишнє середовище» в усному та писемному мовленні учнів.

2. Розвинути вміння писемного продукування.

3. Вдосконалити граматичні навички учнів, їх вміння висловлювати власну думку на проблеми соціального характеру, вміння користуватися мовними кліше щодо вираження власного ставлення до ситуацій проблемного характеру.  

Освітня: розширити кругозір учнів щодо способів вирішення соціальних проблем в англомовних країнах та організаціях.

Виховна: сприяти розвитку в учнів поведінки, сприятливої для взаємодії з навколишнім середовищем

Розвивальна: розвивати пізнавальні процеси учнів, будувати та аналізувати стратегію поведінки, обговорювати прослухане.

Обладнання уроку: підручник, аудіоматеріал, роздатковий матеріал, програвач.

Мета: активізувати мовленнєвий запас учнів та знання з теми «Довкілля» , розвивати уважність, мислення та сприймання на слух.

Методичний прийом : інтерактивна вправа «Мікрофон»

ІІІ. Перевірка домашнього завдання

• Last time you had tо work in pairs and act out a dialogue based on problem of pollution using expressions from ex. 3, p.19 in your CB and complete the dialogues from ex. 5, p.19 with the appropriate responses, explaining your choice.

Answer Key to ex.5, p.19

1. – What do you know about the event?

• Not much (denying knowing smth)

2. –Could you help me take these to the recycling centre?

• Yes, of course. (agreeing to help)

3. – Are you coming to the volunteer centre on Saturday?

• Sure, what time is it? (asking about the time)

Suggested Answer key for dialogue:

• Hi, Mary! Did you have a nice time in the city yesterday?
• Oh, hi, Peter! Yes, it was great. But I was shocked by the amount of pollution I saw.
• Yes, I noticed that too when I visited the city last week. It made me disappointed to see the traffic fumes and smog. Something needs to be done about this problem.
• Well, one solution could be to ban cars from the city centre. By doing this there would definitely be less pollution from traffic fumes.
• I’m not sure about that. People still need to get around. I suppose it would help if they reduced the cost of public transport. If fares were cheaper, more people would use public transport and there would be a lot less pollution.
• Great idea!

IV. Головна частина уроку

1.Робота в парах

Мета: виробити в учнів стратегію роботи зі завданням описового характеру, аналізувати тематику прочитаних розповідей, визначати мету та особливості їх побудови.

Методичний прийом: робота в парах

• Open your textbooks on p.20, find ex.1. Read the rubric and look at the underlined words. Use them to answer the questions.

The Answer key:

• I’m going to write an essay suggesting solutions to a problem.
• The topic of this essay – heavy traffic in the city.
• The task is to write 120-180 words.

2. Робота з текстом

Мета: сформувати вміння в учнів працювати з текстом та обговорювати проблематику тексту; автоматизувати вміння підбирати синонімічні вирази до виділених в тексті словосполучень.

Методичний прийом : фронтальна бесіда

• Now pay attention to ex. 3, p.20. Look through the essay and complete the table in your copybooks. Use the completed table to talk about suggestions to reduce the traffic in your hometown.

Answer key:

• Replace the underlined phrases in the essay with phrases from the Useful Language Box. You may need to change the sentences slightly.

Мета: вдосконалити вживання мовних кліше, вміння утворювати припущення та заперечення; активізувати мислення учнів

Методичний прийом: індивідуальна робота

• In 3 minutes rewrite the sentences using the words/phrases in brackets.

Answer key:

1. A useful suggestion would be to turn offal the lights before leaving the room. By doing this, less electricity would be used on campus.
2. It would be a good idea if wealthy people donated more to charity. The result of this would be that there would be less poverty in the world.
3. Another way to solve this problem would be to build the youth club in the town. In this way, teenagers would have somewhere safe place to spend their time.

-In ex. 7, p.21 use the prompts below and appropriate words/phrases to write supporting sentences, as in example.

Suggested Answer Key

• As a result of this, they would feel less stressed.
• If schools had PE lessons twice a day, then children would get more exercise and consequently they would lose weight.
• We should set up youth clubs, for example, where they would be able to play sports. By doing this, teens would have somewhere to spend their time.

• Pay attention to the useful language, which express making suggestions, giving examples and presenting consequences.

2. Складання плану розповіді

Мета: ; формувати в учнів вміння складати розповідь, дотримуючись її структури.

Методичний прийом: фронтальна бесіда

• Every story needs to have introduction, main part and conclusion.
• Pay attention to the plan below and coly it into your copybooks.
• Don’t forget to use it while you’ll be writing your own essay.

VI. Підсумок уроку

1. Рефлексія. Інтерактивна вправа «Мікрофон»

• What was the topic of our lesson?
• Which exercise were the most interesting for you? Why?

2. Домашнє завдання

• Make up your own essay describing a problem of graffiti. Follow the plan and use expressions from the Language Box.
• When you finish your piece of writing, check it for suggestions, a variety of phrases to present results, formal language, a summary of your opinion in the conclusion and putting the right punctuation.
