Lesson: Different kinds of travelling

Objectives:

• to enrich students’ knowledge
• to develop students’ speaking, listening skills
• to develop students’ creative thinking

Equipment: a textbook,  pictures, presentation ppt.

PROCEDURE

1. INTRODUCTION

T: Good morning, children! What day is it today? What is the weather like today?  What do you like to do in such weather? You know it’s winter now. Is winter a good time for travelling? The topic of our lesson is “Travelling”.. At this lesson you’ll revise new words, word combinations, read the text, exchange the information on the basis of the text we’ll practice our listening and speaking skills

2. WARM- UP
   1.   Warm-up.

Match the English proverbs with their Ukrainians equivalents:

 Travel. Your money will return

 time won't.                                                           Подорожі розширюють наш кругозір.

Travel broadens the mind.                                    Подорожуйте. Гроші повернуться, час ні 

The best journeys are not always

 in straight lines.                                                   В гостях добре, а дома краще

                                                                              за прямим маршрутом.

Read the text and answer the questions:

3.What can people see  while travelling?

3.Why do people travel?

T: Though winter time is not as good for travelling as summer, if you go to a railway station, a port or an airport in this country or abroad you’ll see hundreds of people who want to go somewhere and to get there as quickly as possible. Why do they travel?

4. Time for rest

               Travelling gives you many wonderful experiences you cannot find in your own country. You meet local people and get to understand different cultures. It’s so exciting. I love planning trips and doing some research on the country or countries I want to visit. Sometimes I like to plan everything in advance, my flights, hotels and tours, etc. For me, the most exciting thing is arriving in a country with no hotel reservation and no fixed plans. I prefer staying in hostels and guest houses. You get to meet and talk to different and interesting people and share information. I also like to visit places that are off the beaten track. Being somewhere with thousands of other tourists? It’s not my cup of tea.
