Good morning. I am very glad to see you again.  There are some guests at our today’s lesson. Let’s smile and greet them.

-“Hello’’.

The topic of our lesson is  ‘’In the world of professions’’(Slide 1)

Aims and objectives :

  • to enrich students’ vocabulary;
  • to develop students’ skills of prepared and unprepared speech;
  • to teach students to express their opinion;
  • to develop students’ skills in listening;
  • to teach students to respect other people’s work;
  • to help children in choosing their career

Procedure

Introduction

Let’s begin our lesson. The topic of our lesson concerns your future life and I hope that you’ll be able to solve all the tasks that I have prepared for you. I want to begin our lesson with a poem.    (Listen to the poem).

I Want to Ве      (Slide 2)
Some people often say to mе:
"Have уоu decided what уоu want to bе?"
I usually answer, "I don't know,"
But it isn't really so.
I want to win аn Olympic race,
I want to see the Earth from space,
I want to travel to Katmandu
I want to bе rich and famous, too.
I want to bе оn Hollywood's screen,
I want to invent а new machine,
I want to bе very clever and wise,
I want to win the Nobel prize.


This poem is about one person who doesn’t know what profession to choose.    And what  about you?                     (Slide 3)

Please, tell me ‘’What are you going to be? Where do you imagine yourselves in 10 years?’’.  Begin your answers with…

(I am going to be….  I dream of being a…  I ‘ll work in  … I want to be….   I haven’t decided yet but I like to…) 

OK. I’m sure that all your dreams come true.

  1. Main part            Vocabulary practice

- Look at the screen now.               (Slide 3)

 Here is a proverb. There is a name of a profession here.

Every man is a blacksmith of his fortune. – Людина сама своє щастя кує (коваль)

- Of course, it is a profession of the past.

- Well,  let’s continue working.

-  Now it’s time for a guessing game ‘’What profession is it?’’.    (Slide 4)

I’ll describe you a profession and you will tell me it’s name.    Here are some professions:                        

  • Bricklayer                                        programmer
  • Architect                                          decorator
  • Fashion designer                            car mechanic
  • Conductor                                       physicist
  • Manager                                           interpreter
  • Accountant                                      pharmacist
  • Sports instructor                             cashier 
  •  Journalist                                        receptionist
  • Listen to the definition of professions, try to guess and name them.
  1. Someone who can count well and keeps the money records of a business.
  2. Someone who makes walls from bricks.
  3. Someone who designs clothes.
  4. Someone who writes computer programs.
  5. Someone who gets cash or pays out money in a shop.
  6. Someone who repairs cars.
  7. Someone who works at the reception desk of a hotel.
  8. Someone whose job is to design buildings.
  9. Someone whose job is to manage a company.
  10. Someone who studies or works in physics.

 

  • Watching and listening

Now  we are going to watch a video-film ‘’Jobs interview’’.  Be attentive and try to remember useful information.

(I hope it will help you to get a well-paid job in a foreign company)

Now we’ll work with a book.   Ex. 5 p.95  The task is to complete the dialogue. 

 Imagine: you want to have a part-time job in summer and you are being interviewed by a career officer.    Who wants to role-play this dialogue? (   )

  • OK, thank you girls. I’m sure that you’ll have good jobs in future.

Let’s go on.  In modern world there are so many different jobs and professions and among them there are useful, interesting, modern and new.  Now, listen to Herman’s information about very important job nowadays and try to guess it’s name.

  • OK. You are right, it’s electrician.

Now, listen to Dasha’s information about one of the professions of the future.

  •  What profession is it?  -  Designer of a smart environment

It was very interesting, thanks a lot.

- Now I want to inform you that there are some currant and urgent professions nowadays   – military professions:

Air force pilot                               Aircraft mechanic

Aviation survival technical          Combat medic

Combat engineer                         Intelligence officer

Marine force recon                     Nuclear engineer

Chemical (Biological, Radiological, Nuclear)- CBRN specialist

Army linguist ( translator)

We need these professions because we have to defend our native Ukraine and protect our people from russian invadors.   All our people must be grateful to them and respect their job.  But Ukrainians are very strong and united now and I believe that we’ll win the war very soon.

Let’s remember our first lesson after the beginning of the war. What song did we sing? Yes, it was  «We shall over come» song.

Let’s sing it all together.

Our lesson is going to the end.  Let’s sum up the results of our lesson.
