«Let`s eat healthy food!»

Level: elementary (A2)

Objectives:

  • to revice and consolidate vocabulary on the theme “Food”;
  • to train pupils in listening;
  • to develop memory, attention and fancy;
  • to introduce schoolchildren with healthy eating habits;
  • to form a representation of children about the importance of proper nutrition in human life;
  • to teach students to take responsibility for their health.

 

Competencies:

  • critical thinking (evaluating arguments and options);
  • learning to learn (to get practical skills in listening and understanding the song, to cooperate in group);
  • social responsibilities (understanding personal responsibilities as a part of a group and in the society).

Type of the event: combined.

Materials: a tablet, TV, flashcards “Healthy/unhealthy food”, audio, pictures.

 

                                                     PROCEDURE

  1. The beginning of the event.
  1. Greeting and giving the  theme and main aims of our event.
  •  Good afternoon dear students. I am glad to see you today. Hope you are ready to work productively today!

Please, answer on my questions:

- What can you live without? What is so important for all people? Yes, it`s right. It`s food. Without food, a person can not live.

- Do you know such wordcombinations as “healthy food” and “unhealthy or junky food”?

 - How do you understand them?

Perhaps each of you understands that only a person who has good health, easily overcomes difficulties and is able to work efficiently, have a rest. And to ensure good health, you have to learn to eat properly and eat only healthy food.

 

  1. Warming-up 

- Let’s revise vocabulary of the topic “ Food” which we have already learnt.

I propose you to divide into two groups. Your task is to write as many words as you remember on the theme “Food’.

Please, look at these two pictures.

  • What food would you like to eat( from picture 1 or 2)?
  • Let`s name food which we see on the pictures.

  • Why did you choose food from picture 1(2)?

I propose you to meet with these two boys:

As you understood, this boy is Japanese. Let`s give  name for him!

  • Why do I show you these photos?
  • Imagine these boys are in the age of 70.  How will they look like?

You know Japanese has the longest life expectancy. Unfortunately, Americans can live to such age or not…. Why?

  • What picture with food will American boy choose?
  • Does food influence on life expectancy? – Yes.
  • How does it influence?

Activity 2. Each group has two plates named “Healthy food” and “Unhealthy food” and a box with flashcards . Your task is to put these flashcards on the “right plate”. You have 3 minutes. Then we will listen to song one more and check your choices.

Activity 3. Next task is to write on the blackboard words (Food) in such order how you will hear them. The first one is sugar.

Answer: sugar, cake, sweets, lollipops, chocolate, milk, diary, cheese, yogurt, meat, fish, bread, cereals, pizza, donuts, hamburgers, chips, fruit, greens, cabbages, broccoli and apples.

 

Activity 4. Name 10 the most unhealthy food. Pupils` answers. Look at the picture and check with your answers.

  •  Chips, both corn and potatoes
  • Sweet carbonated drinks
  • Chocolate bars
  •  Sausages and sausages
  •  Mayonnaise and ketchup

  11.         Help to develop muscles and brain (healthy).

So, what is healthy for us: apples or fries, tomatoes or hamburgers?

 And at the end of our event I would like to wish you to take care of your health. Because your health can not buy for any money. So keep it. Your health is in your hands. Let your life go under the slogan:

 "Being healthy is fashionable!"
