-Червоний вертикальний хрест – хрест Святого Джорджа, покровителя Англії. Червона троянда – національна емблема Англії. The national flower of England is the rose. The flower has been adopted as England’s emblem since the time of the Wars of the Roses – civil wars [1455-1485] between the royal house of Lancaster [whose emblem was a red rose] and the royal house of York [whose emblem was a white rose].

-Білий діагональний хрест на синьому фоні – це хрест Святого Ендрю, покровителя Шотландії. Чортополох – національна емблема Шотландії.

The national flower of Scotland is the thistle, a prickly-leaved purple flower which was first used in the 15th century as a symbol of defence. The Scottish Bluebell is also seen as the flower of Scotland.

Їхня національна емблема – нарцис.The national flower of Wales is the daffodil, which is traditionally worn on St. David’s Day. The vegetable called leek is also considered to be a traditional emblem of Wales. There are many explanations of how the leek came to be adopted as the national emblem of Wales. One is that St David advised the Welsh, on the eve of battle with the Saxons, to wear leeks in their caps to distinguish friend from foe. As Shakespeare records in Henry V, the Welsh archers wore leeks at the battle of Agincourt in 1415.

Національна емблема Північної Ірландії – трилисник.The national flower of Northern Ireland is the shamrock, a three-leaved plant similar to clover. An Irish tale tells of how Patrick used the three-leaved shamrock to explain the Trinity. He used it in his sermons to represent how the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit could all exist as separate elements of the same entity. His followers adopted the custom of wearing a shamrock on his feast day.

• 4 представника від кожного загону отримують картки із зображенням символів Британії, по команді ведучого вони мають підбігти до учня, який тримає відповідний прапор. Загін, який правильно добере символи  до прапорів, переможе.

My full name is Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor. I was born on April 21, 1926 in London, the UK. I belong to a dynasty of Windsor.I was crowned on June 2, 1953. The ruler’s traditional British residence is the Buckingham Palace, which has 609 rooms, and 400 servants work in it.

I  was born on the first of July 1961 in Sandringham in England. I had two older sisters and a younger brother. In childhood I liked games, swimming, running and dancing. I wanted to become a dancer. Besides I loved children very much and at the age of sixteen I worked in schools for very young children. I became princess, when Prince Charles, the Queen's son, asked me to be his wife and we got married. We had two sons. We travelled a lot they worked a lot, they visited many countries together.

Joanne Rowling (pen-name J. K. Rowling) is a famous British novelist. Her fantasy books about Harry Potter brought her world recognition and popularity. They became the best-selling books in the history of literature. These books have become the basis for a series of films, which were also highly successful. The writer was born on July 31st, 1965, in Yate, which is north-east of Bristol. She attended St Michael’s Primary School there. Many biographers believe that the headmaster of that school became the prototype of the headmaster of the fictional school of magic in “Harry Potter”.

-Because he always shouts at me.
