Seasons of the year

   There are four seasons in the year: spring, summer, autumn and winter. Every season is beautiful in its own way(1).

Spring

   March, April and May are spring months. When spring comes nature(2)  awakens(3) from its long winter sleep. The days become longer and nights become shorter. The air is fresh, the sky is blue and cloudless(4) and the sun is shining brightly. The days are warm. The birds return(5) from the south and build their nests(6). We can see many beautiful flowers in the parks, gardens and squares. The first green leaves appear(7) in the trees. Many people like spring very much because it is a very nice season.

Summer

   Summer comes after spring. June, July and August are summer months. The weather gets warmer and sometimes it is hot. It is a season of thunderstorms with thunder and lightning. The gardens are gay(1) with flowers. The days are long and the nights are short. All the children like summer very much because they have their summer holidays. It`s good time to swim, to pick mushrooms, berries, flowers, go fishing and boating and become sunburnt(2).

Autumn

Autumn comes after summer. September, October and November are autumn months. In September it is still sunny. The fields(1) and orchards(2) are full of ripe(3) vegetables and fruit. The farmers(4) gather in the harvest(5). In October and November  the days become shorter and the nights longer. The weather is windy and rainy. It is cool. The sky is grey and cloudy. The leaves in the trees are yellow, red, brown and they fall from the trees.

Winter

Winter comes after autumn. December, January and February are winter months. In winter the weather is frosty. It is very cold. It often snows. Everything is white with snow. The days are short and the nights are long. Winter is a very nice season. Many people like winter very much because they can ski, skate, sledge, play snowballs and make a snowman.
