T: Today we are going to speak about the National symbols of Ukraine. They are… Some of you had homework to prepare some information about one of the symbols. So the first symbol is ‘ The National Flag’
P1: The National Flag has two stripes – blue and yellow. The colors are symbolic yellow for wheat in the fields and blue for the sky above them. The National Flag first appeared in 1848.
P2: The National Emblem of Ukraine is the Trident. It’s the most ancient of all the Ukrainian symbols. Its history goes back to the first century A.D. First it was appeared on the coins of Volodymyr the Great.
P3,4: The music of National Anthem was composed by a composer, a priest and choral director Mykhailo Verbytskyi and the text was written by Pavlo Chubynskyi. Published for the first time in 1865. (Two girls sing the Ukrainian Anthem in English)

We live in Ukraine. It is situated in Europe. Kyiv is the capital of Ukraine. Ukraine has a population of 46 million people. The state language is Ukrainian. Ukraine is an independent state.
Ukraine’s national symbols are: the National Flag, the Ukrainian Anthem and the National Emblem.
The National Flag has two stripes – blue and yellow. The colours are symbolic – yellow for wheat in the fields and blue for the sky above them. The National Flag first appeared in 1848.
The Ukrainian Anthem is a song called "Ukraine Has Not Yet Perished”. The lyrics were written by Pavlo Chubynskyi. The music was written by Mykhailo Verbytskyi in 1863.
The National Emblem of Ukraine is a trident. It is the most ancient of all Ukrainian symbols. Its history goes back to the first century A.D.
