 Objectives:  - to revise and activate the vocabulary on the topic “Clothes”;

  • to play a game “Teddy dresser”;
  • to listen to a short story and do the tasks;
  • to present different types of parties;
  • to read invitations to the parties;
  • to make up dialogues;
  •  to make a project.

Materials: student’s books “Solutions elementary”, pictures with the parties, internet resources from www.britishcounsil.org, printable worksheets.

Procedure

I. Greeting and Aim

T: Good morning, pupils. I’m pleased to see you at the lesson. How are you?

Our topic today is “Time to party”. By the end of the lesson you will be able to play a game online, listen and watch a shory online,learn about different types of parties, make a project and build up dialogues. 

 

II. Warming up

T: So, let’s start.  What do you usually wear to school?

P1: A school uniform.

T: What do you wer when you go out with friends?

P2: Jeans and a T-shirt.

P3: A tracksuit and trainers.

T: What do yoy usually wear in summer? 

P4: Shorts, a dress, a cap, sunglasses.

T: What doyou wear in winter?

P5: A woolly hat, a scarf, gloves. 

 

 

III. Vocabulary revision.

T: We are going to play a game Teddy Dresser to recall more words on the topic “Clothes”.  www.britishcounsil.org

IV. Listening and watching.  www.britishcounsil.org

Pre – Viewing

T: We are going to watch a scene about a boy. He is sad because his favourite clothes don’t fit him any more. Let’s match the pictures and the words.

While – Viewing

T: Watch the scene and match the sentences from the story.

Post – Viewing

T:  Answer the questions.

  1. Why is mum taking the clothes away?
  2. What clothes did she take?
  3. Who knitted the sweater?
  4. Who gave him the slippers?
  5. When did the boy get the trousers?
  6.  Who did mum give the clothes to?

V. Presentation of the new vocabulary.

T: Lаbel the pictures with the corresponding words.

VI. Reading.

Pre – reading

T: Open your books at page 47 . Read the invitations and say what parties are the people invited to.

While – reading

T: Read and say if the sentences are True or False.

  1. Fancy dress party is on 12th May.
  2. Sally has an end-of-term party.
  3. Fancy dress party is at the village hall.
  4. Sally’s birthday is on Saturday.
  5. The theme of the fancy dress party is “horror films”.
  6. Birthday party is at 7.30 p.m.

Post – reading. Project.

T: Work in groups. Do the activities on the sheets of paper (ready-made worksheets with empty spaces to fill in, pictures).

(Students in groups do the tasks, then check up)

VII. Speaking

T: Make up dialogues. Invite your partner to one of parties. Use the following word combinations:

Please come to…  I’m having a party on ….  Can you invite…

I hope you can come. See you soon.    Cheers.

VIII. Home assignment

T: Your home task is to write an invitation to the party.

XI. Summing up.

T: How do you feel at the end of the lesson? Look at the poster.
