Objectives: to sum up the results of learning the topic “Food”, to practice pupils to use some\any, much\many\ a lot of, to develop pupils’ speaking, writing and listening skills

Materials: pupil’s book by A. Nesvit “We learn English 5”, handouts for listening, cards on the topic Food”

Procedure

 

  1. Warm up

T. Good morning, children!

PP. Good morning, teacher!

T. I am glad to see you!

PP. We are glad to see you, too!

T. As, you know, we are studying a very interesting and popular topic. It is “Food and favourite dishes”. We can’t imagine our life without food. Today at the lesson we summarize our knowledge on the topic and we can write down into our portfolios

  • Talk about my likes and dislikes in food
  • Recite rhymes
  • Use some\any, much\many\ a lot of
  • Listen and understand dialogues about dishes
  • Order food

Children! Imagine we are in “a food train” where we can see many products. Let’s read rhymes about food

T. And now I’ve got a very funny rhyme for you. You’ll finish the lines like real poets. Are you poets? Let’s see!

T. Before listening to different dialogues about dishes let’s get to know some new words:

  • French fries – fried potatoes
  • Corn dog – a hot dog covered with maize-flour batter, fried and served on a stick
  • Steak – fried meat

And now listen to 10 dialogues about what different people want to eat and match number and picture. Be attentive, we have 10 people but 15 pictures.

  Dear Mandy,

How are you? I hope you’re well. It was my birthday last Saturday. I was really sorry you couldn’t come to my party. We had a great time! I decorated my house with colourful balloons and we all played some great party games such as “Simon Says”. My mother made pizza, ham and cheese sandwiches, chicken and salads. I helped my mother to make a birthday cake. It was a delicious chocolate cake.
