МАРАФОН
Підготовлений і проведений в 4- класі
учителем англійської мови

Мета гри:
1. Розвивати непідготовлену мову учнів.
2. Розвивати креативні здатності учнів.
3. Виховувати інтерес до вивчення предмета.
4. Узагальнити країнознавчі знання учнів, отримані на уроках англійської мови.
Освітні завдання:
1. У ході творчої, самостійної, індивідуальної й групової роботи з дидактичними матеріалами закріпити знання учнів по вивчених темах («Країни», «Домашні обв’язки», «Магазин», «Будинок. Квартира» і ін.)
розширити загальний кругозір.
Розвиваючі завдання:
1. Розвивати вміння працювати в колективі й приймати спільне рішення;
2. Розвивати позитивні особистісні якості (відповідальність, доброзичливість, почуття взаємодопомоги).
3. Розвивати й тренувати увагу, пам'ять, мислення.
Виховні завдання:
1. Виховувати повагу до культури своєї країни й країни мову якої вивчаємо
Teacher: Good afternoon, children and our guests! I’m very glad to see you here. Now we shall organize a competition called “Intellectual Marathon”. Two teams will take part in a game of the most quick-witted and the cleverest. It’s time to introduce yourselves. Who is the captain of the 1st team?
P1: I'm the captain of the team. The name of our team is “MERRY BELLS”. 
Our motto is “YOU WILL HEAR US!”
Teacher: Who is the captain of the 2nd team?
P2: I'm the captain of the team. The name of our team is “HAPPY SMILES”. 
Our motto is “YOU WILL SEE US!”.
(Склад команд, їхньої назви й девіз визначаються заздалегідь).
Teacher: Today all of you have a good chance to improve your English during the game. I have invited a competent jury to count the points. The members of our jury are ... The game has 8 contests, they are:
1. The ABC game.
2. A magic 5.
3. Parts and wholes.
4. Proverbs and sayings.
5. Shopping list.
6. A tongue-twister.
7. What room is this.
8. Poems.
Well, I wish you success. Be active, honest and helpful! Remember 5 steps to success:
Teacher:: And now we come to the 1st contest of the game called “The ABC game”. Kids, you'll get some letters from the English alphabet. You must put the letters in the right order, so as to get the name of the English-speaking country. You have 1 minute. Each team can get 5 points.

Teacher: And now we come to the 2nd contest which is called “A magic 5”. Look at the square, each team will take turns in answering questions. You'll choose any number. “ ...”, it's your turn to start. Captains will have an opportunity to choose the number. You can get 5 points for the right answer. Teacher: The 3rd contest is called “Parts and wholes”. I need 1 pupil from each team. You should combine these parts so as to get a popular name. Who will be the first? You can get 1 point for each right answer.( команди одержують однакові завдання,щоб поєднати слова)

Teacher:: Our next contest is called “Proverbs and sayings”. Each team will get a list of words. You should rearrange the words so as to make up a proverb. (Обидві команди одержують однаковий набір слів, з яких повинні вийти 3 англійські прислів'я).
