Welcome! Today, we're talking about one of the most iconic rock bands in history: Queen.

Global Anthems. You definitely know their music! Who hasn't heard:"We Are the Champions""We Will Rock You"These songs are among the most popular melodies in the world. They have become true victory anthems at sporting events globally. Queen is a famous British rock band, formed in 1971. Queen's music is everywhere, especially in sports. They are instantly recognizable and incredibly popular.

The Genius of Brian May (Part 1: The Musician)

BRIAN MAY: GUITARIST AND SINGER Brian May is one of the band's creators and the lead guitarist. He is also a singer. He is famous for his unique guitar, the "Red Special", which he made himself with the help of his father. Queen's first album, simply titled Queen, was released in 1973. They didn't have to wait long for success; the album reached a worldwide audience and is still listened to by millions today. May's sound is key to Queen. His handmade guitar is as legendary as he is.

The Genius of Brian May (Part 2: The Astrophysicist)Brian May's first major interest was not music, but astrophysics. He graduated from Imperial College London in 1968. He later became a university chancellor. In 2023, he even helped NASA land on an asteroid (specifically, the OSIRIS-REx mission to asteroid Bennu), a fascinating twist for a rock star!His career in music started soon after his graduation when he formed the band Smile, which later became Queen. Brian May is a man of two incredible careers: a world-famous rock star AND an accomplished scientist.

Queen Today: A New Era. The band continues to perform and tour, keeping their music alive. The original members playing today are: Brian May (guitar)Roger Taylor (drums)The original bass player, John Deacon, no longer wishes to play with the band. Since 2009, Queen has been touring with American singer Adam Lambert. The Queen story didn't end with Freddie Mercury. Brian and Roger continue the legacy. They have been working with Adam Lambert for a long time—since 2009.

Adam Lambert: The New Voice. Adam Lambert is the current lead singer for Queen on their tours. Important Note: Lambert does not "replace" the legendary original lead singer, Freddie Mercury, who died in 1991. Lambert's role is to honor Freddie's incredible legacy and perform the songs for a new generation. The collaboration is called "Queen + Adam Lambert".  Adam Lambert is performing with Queen, not as Freddie Mercury. He is paying tribute to a legend.

Documentary and Legacy. The story of Queen and Adam Lambert’s collaboration is so compelling that it became the subject of a documentary. A 2019 documentary exists about Lambert joining Queen and the continuation of the band's journey. This ongoing touring success proves that Queen remains a truly global and enduring phenomenon! The fact that their modern history is documented shows the interest in the band's continued relevance.
